“We have grown accustomed to the strange twists and turns of the supposed scandal known as ‘Russiagate,’ as well as the intensely partisan nature of investigations and media coverage. We also know this is all about the very existence of the Trump presidency. But who will investigate the investigators?

  2. This year’s COP president is Fiji’s prime minister, Frank Bainimarama—the first representative from a small island nation to lead the U.N. climate meeting. “The COP president typically has a fair amount of power to set the tone for negotiations,” Horowitz explains. “I expect we’ll see a lot at this COP that relates to the priorities of small island nations.” These nations are extremely vulnerable to rising oceans—their fate is tied to the success of the Paris accord. “They could be among the first to lose significant sovereign territory,” Horowitz says. They will likely push for greater greenhouse gas reductions as well as emphasize adaptation to climate change and paying for losses and damages.

Climate change, is the new Western colonialism robbing the Pacific people of their lands.
Low lying Pacific nations are being robbed of their lands by rising seas, and threatened by climate change fueled super storms.

Meanwhile, White majority settler country, New Zealand, is opening new coal mines and building more motorways and furiously converting more cropping land to methane producing dairying.
Majority white settler New Zealand also operates a racially biased immigration system that allows free entry for White Majority Australians citizens, while restricting the entry of Pacifica peoples.

Before the invasion and subjugation of the region by the Western Colonial Powers, Pacifica people freely roamed the whole face of the Pacific. This fact has been proven by archaeology and oral history and is not in dispute.

Despite this history the other large white majority settler country in the Pacific, Australia, also discriminates against Island immigrants. Australia, like New Zealand, also ignores the plight of their Pacific neighbors regarding the effects of climate change. Australia against the wishes of their own indigenous people, just like New Zealand, are cruelly bent on increasing their carbon burden on the atmosphere, and threatening the future of low lying Island nations.

This is a weird statement …as far as I know most Pacifica people can still roam freely around the Pacific…they are not prevented from doing so by New Zealand and Australia

….also many, if not most, New Zealanders of generational long standing have both Pakeha and Maori and/or Polynesian heritage

… and New Zealand has a liberal policy towards the peoples of the Pacific as regards immigration, aid and everything else

…btw many in the Pacific are more concerned about new colonisation by China …which does not have a good record as regards exploitation, oppression and over running with population … these arguments are made against China by the Tibetans

    • What a load of self serving racist twaddle.

You know, I can’t think of any dawn raids against white Australian migrants.

      Can you?

Not one single independent Pacifica country enjoys the same rights of free entry into New Zealand that White Majority Settler Country, Australia enjoys.

Maybe if New Zealand imposed temporary work visas and quotas on White Ausralians you might have a point. Even then that would still ignore the “White New Zealand” immigration policy which our present day amended race based immigration controls are descended from.

The Act enabled officials to prevent Indians and other non-white British subjects entering New Zealand. It stated that a person who was a naturalised British subject (or whose parents fell into this category) or an ‘aboriginal Native or the descendant of an aboriginal Native’ of any other British dominion, colony or protectorate, was not of British birth and parentage. Thus, without specifically targeting non-whites, the Act could be used to keep them out.

      https://nzhistory.govt.nz/page/white-new-zealand-policy-introduced

What is notable about the White New Zealand immigration policy is that any white person was free to come and go anywhere in the British Commonwealth. The right to freely travel around the Empire accorded Whites is what our current free entry to Australians are a hold over from. It is not extended to any of our neighboring Pacific nations because this right to freely travel around the British Empire, even this part of it in the Pacific was never meant to be extended to brown or coloured people and still isn’t.

      • Fiji ?..I cant think of any nation that does not have some discrimination on who and how many new immigrants there are or restrictions on investment by foreigners

        China ?

        Japan?

        Fiji?

…the problem arises where there is disparity of population, disparity of cultural values, disparity of income

      • btw the old Maori had many tribal wars and wars over territory and natural resources …New Zealand certainly wasnt “freely roamed” as you idealistically make out

…in fact some Chiefs signed the Treaty because they were sick of Maori wars by Maori tribes on Maori tribes

        • Probably not helped when the British supplied modern (ie, 18th century) rifles to a society that had only known hand-to-hand combat up to that point. The British made good use of their proxy tribes. Those tribes settled old grievances once they had the technological advantage.

Very much like the proxy wars between the USSR and USA last century, fought by Third World nations supplied with lethal, up-to-date, weaponry by their Soviet and American patrons.

Imagine if imperialistic aliens came to our world and offered unimaginably advanced weapons to any particular group of countries. Imagine if said advanced technology made current Russian and American defense systems utterly obsolete. Then imagine how those proxy nations using alien weaponry could settle scores with their neighbours or the West, as they carried out their alien Overlords’ bidding. (Why get into a fight when you can get someone else to do your dirty work for you?)

So suggesting that “Chiefs signed the Treaty because they were sick of Maori wars by Maori tribes on Maori tribes” omits the fact that those same “Maori wars” were fuelled by alien technology from the invading British Empire. (The name “Empire” kind of gives it away.)

  4. suggest you read some pre- European Maori history

…. and historian Claudia Orange’s book on the signing of the Treaty

    http://bwb.co.nz/books/the-treaty-of-waitangi

(not all Chiefs signed for the reason of being sick of Maori wars but some did….for some it was pragmatism and getting the best deal possible)

…and sure the early Europeans added a new element to warfare which the Maori exploited and commandeered to continue their tribal wars eg guns and ships with the help of British ship captains eg Taranaki raids on Chathams and Te -Rauparaha raids on Ngai Tahu kaiapoi and Akaroa
