Cough. Cough.

It’s not exactly Jesus feeding 5000 with a couple of fish and loaves is it?

Let’s go through this wee fable for the right shall we?

I’m not sure a tale of child labour and exploitation is exactly the best place to start a moral lesson, but these are Young Nat we are talking about here, this is a few of them ‘protesting’ at a Young Nat fundraiser a couple of years ago…

…so we are talking about privileged white kids with all the bedside manner of a brain hungry zombie on meth.

I digress, back to this exploitative child labour morality story.

Firstly, responding to a young persons desire to help the less fortunate by offering them wages well below the hourly minimum is only inspirational if you traffic human beings or own a corporation.

Secondly, how does twisting a young persons desire to help the homeless  into viewing the world as selfishly as you do make the world a better place or a moral lesson worth learning?

This is almost Trump like in its delusional view of the world. Turning young children into mean spirited arseholes is only a success if you are running an apartheid state, starting up an Ayn Rand daycare centre or think this photo shows positive group bonding…

…how privileged and stuck up your own arsehole must you be to see this story as a positive learning experience?

This tale of brainwashing a child using exploitative wages to turn them against the homeless has the compassion of a knife wound and all the empathy of cancer.

That Young Nats proudly believe this shit is ugly.

Shouldn’t people like this with values like these go to boot camps instead?

  1. It sounds like the debate over “entitlement” in the States.

Are we going to import the noxious attitudes from there?
It is the natural outcome of the developing rift between “two nations”.

As time passes, the advantaged section begins to confound privilege with merit, and the disadvantaged, conversely, unworthy.

People who struggle to survive are characterized as inferior, and ultimately, morally undeserving.

This attitude is usually accompanied by a lack of introspection and a call for punative social policy.

    Are we really going there?

Boy, we need a change of Government. There’s some serious work to do.

    • The weak minded will always look for the easy out complaining “we are being driven to hard” and in need of tax relief – wankers.

So this YoungNat grooming this young girl? Must have a magic lawn that regrows 7 times a week, enough to keep one homeless person employed an fed with $25 groceries a day or two bid Mac combos.

These economic zelics really believe there own bullshit.

(“Ah shit, even I’v become a little bit dumb after reading youngnats BS”)

  2. FFS, take away their privileges, their properties, make them ‘equal’ to all others, including the homeless, and they will not be able to even consider such condescending thoughts and BS talk.

Sad fact is, the Young Nats still appeal to too many out there, as they just love to be privileged, that is why they love laissez faire immigration, as the stream of desperate from the Pacific Islands, from India, China, Latin America and other places, is endless, they can just get them ’employed’, and make themselves look humane sort of.

Same as John Key, privilege with a touch of BS humanism, to serve oneself, the whole modern day western world, including other ‘developed’ places thrive on all this.

  3. That fable was emailed to me about a year ago. It had two more sentences at the end: ‘ “Welcome to the National Party,” I said. Her parents have not spoken to me since.’
Now I wonder why they cut that bit off… Just a little too smug and smart?

      • Agree, Frank. I’ve seen that fable posted on several ‘inspirational’ websites.

And the amount would fit, too. American minimum wage, where they have one, is $7.25. Plus food stamps (SNAP), of course.

  4. So the homeless man did the work and because he was so desperate the Young nat only paid him $5 because its ok to exploit poor people as they have little power

    • I think that is exactly what will happen, along with some kind of economic mechanism that makes the person homeless and desperate in the first place too of course…

  5. Yes Martyn , but you know and I know and all the commentators know it , that the REAL cause is neo liberalism.

I’m a tired old stuck record.

But I know I am right.

And whats more , – many other people also know that’s the REAL root cause of where we are today.

Soooo , whats the answer? . Well , the answer is campaigning against neo liberalism. And what do we replace it with?

    Keynesian based economic principles.

And based along the lines of what we used to practice pre 1984. Similar to what the Scandinavians practice today. Its not impossible , you know,… Chris Trotter keeps hinting at it as he does in today’s post…

Let’s Do This NOW, Jacinda – NOT “As Finances Permit” « The Daily …
    https://thedailyblog.co.nz/2017/08/…/lets-do-this-now-jacinda-not-as-finances-permit/

I’m am continually amazed at the amount of hand wringing and pretending there is in people still defining that there is a difference between Right and Left wing neo liberalism. There isn’t. The best you get on the Left is Blairism , – but it is still neo ,liberalism.

People like Jeremy Corbyn are against neo liberalism. That is why the establishment hates him. He essentially believes what so many want – a social democracy based on Keynesian economics. And Corbyn has shown us how and shown those policy’s are wildly popular.

When New Zealanders grow up , or are continually educated on just what neo liberalism is , what Keynesianism is , and recent political / economic history of NZ, and then presented a platform such as Jeremy Corbyn has,… that’s when we will see real change in this country.

These elections show a slight glimmer of that , – but it will take someone with the grit and blunt uncompromising characteristics of Jeremy Corbyn to show them all how.

These right wingers only exist to act like parasites because we let them dictate the narrative. If the people were educated , and shown the difference and shown how , they could be swatted aside so fast they wouldn’t know what hit them.

    Its high time it happened.

    • Great representation of the correct way to think Martyn.

“It’s not exactly Jesus feeding 5000 with a couple of fish and loaves is it?”

She missed the point didn’t she.- her way was to give a very temporary crap job to solve his problem with no future.

Better to think how to be the “Nactional” crappy word for lifting him up with “aspiration” and how would that happen by mowing a lawn?

      National = small brain.

They need to try = “Prevention is better than cure.”

  6. It’s been 2,000 years since Jesus pulled that stunt. Where is he when you need him?

The nice thing about these brats is that they piss, shit, bleed, breathe and eat just the same as all members of homo sapiens.

When Mother Earth cranks up the aggression toward this cancerous humanity infestation (as she has already started doing), privilege ain’t gonna count for squat.

These ninnies are gonna get asphyxiated, drowned, poisoned and squashed the same as the rest of us.

I’ll see ’em in hell… (great western movie line that)

  7. I agree with the general tenet of the article, the privileged persons view of the world is somewhat nasty. And divisive.

Talking divisive WTF is this so we are talking about privileged white kids? Where did the white bit creep in? As a white person I immediately went “shall I keep reading?” Is that some kind of qualifier? Little secret, look at the picture, the girl on the left, where is she from. WTF does it matter? If you go down the race blame gender blame route you are playing right into the hands of National. They will love you for it and you will end up weeding some rich bastards garden.

  8. You can be certain too that the homeless person would not be offered $25 to do the work, but more like $5. And therein lies the Tory greed…

    • That’s the bloody story , mate !!!

And rescind the Employment Contracts Act aka the euphemised ‘Employment Relations Act ‘ . Introduce govt backed award rates based on collective bargaining.

And while we are at it , – reintroduce a progressive taxation system that enforces multinationals / corporate’s and high end earners start paying their fair share of the tax burden.

Underfunded social infrastructure my bloody arse , – if these corporate swindlers started being made to pay their damn dues there would be money in the coffers to more than run our social services properly.
