This is now becoming a bloody farce!

Key, under immense pressure now, has had to release details about his Trusts, and lo and behold, the company that is looking after his trust just so happens to help people use foreign trusts to escape tax…

The Antipodes Trust Group describes itself as “a specialist provider of trustee services for foreign trusts using New Zealand as their jurisdiction of choice.”

On its website home page, Antipodes Trust Group says New Zealand offers a “tax neutral environment for New Zealand based foreign trusts which are a well-established vehicle for carefully managing the inter-generational transfer of wealth”.

It points to the tax-free benefits, as well as the lack of inheritance taxes and laws that protect client confidentiality and “limited” reporting requirements which mean the identities of settler and beneficiaries do not need to be disclosed.

…so Key personally intervened in 2011 to change the law to help build his Tax Haven, was warned 7 times that he was building a Tax Haven and the company looking after his Trust specialises in using NZ for foreign trusts to escape tax.

If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck and avoids paying tax like a duck – it’s a fucking duck folks.

  1. So much for tax evader John key saying he was “totally, 100 per cent confident his tax affairs are absolutely above board and totally clean”?

John Key needs to bite the bullet and resign for the good of this country and its people.

Another excellent 5 star article there Martyn !!

  2. After all those denials and lies to NZers last week of any direct or personal involvement at all in establishing NZ for foreign trusts to escape tax and now this … tsk tsk tsk FJK!

We can expect more leaking in weeks to come I’d say, involving FJK and also I suspect a few of his ministers as well. Stay tuned!

  3. Well past time Key resigned. Sadly, this new episode of Key
using a company that specializes in using hidden trusts, is being laid squarely by Key at his lawyers feet. He is a ghastly individual.

  4. Despite FJK’s continued denials (lies?) to the contrary throughout the past week, this one has recently come out, exposing the fact he is very much connected to a firm and lawyer which specializes in setting up trusts for foreign investors to avoid paying tax!

    Two questions …

Now is this enough evidence that FJK has been misleading Parliament and NZ, which I believe is a serious offence for any politician?

If so, then can we expect the Governor General to step up and take action against the PM and his government, thereby honoring his vice regal position, by working for the good of the people of NZ?

  5. Having just witnessed Parliament T.V replay, where Winston Peter’s questioned the P.M on his selected expert to oversee an inquiry into hidden trusts, I have had heard the P.M personally attack Winston at the end of his answers on every answer. This confirms to me that John Key is a great big male chicken.

    • Hi Bert. Firstly many thanks for your excellent posts. I always enjoy reading them 🙂

If you haven’t already seen the live play of today’s disgraceful session of Parliament, I urge you to watch the replay! It’s quite disturbing.

Speaker Carter at every turn was protecting FJK, (whose speech was quite incoherent – drunk perhaps?), making it easy for him to not answer questions from the three opposition leaders, who were firing on all cylinders this afternoon to try and nail the b…..d!

At one stage, after James Shaw asked his second question of the PM, the camera very quickly shot to FJK, to see him shaking his head at Carter, indicating he didn’t want to respond, to which the Speaker obediently complied, getting Shaw to re phase his question!

The whole session involving FJK/Carter was appalling to say the least, pointing to the fact, our Parliament, the highest court in the land, is corrupt beyond repair I’d say!

  6. WORDS,Mary & Bert you are all so right, Key should resign and go now because remember when in 2010 Key said I a huff we would leave if NZ got negative?????

Well “Crafty, corrupt, Key, will you do what you said????????

  7. Short , and very very sweet .

KEYS next explanation…. ” I was hiding totally legal money , not criminal or illegal money, so its all perfectly ok. Everybody knows only poor people pay tax , so this is totally normal and acceptable ”

Whether the money was legal or illegal is not the point .

The point is they are both hiding money for tax evasion purposes.

So come on John, please don’t release your tax details ……

When NZF , Labour and Greens have complied, National is looking very very suspect and the longer the PM waits the worse it gets.

Take all the time you want .

  8. Just a wee bitty insider trading eh? Get behind the levers of power then change the rules to suit you…….and your rich mates. Cha ching $$$.

“I always wanted to be the PM”, my arse. This government just takes the piss, NZ is a wealthy mans play thing. Not that the imbeciles of voting middle NZ would notice, allegedly!

  9. Yes Martyn, it’s the biggest duck out! But Key ain’t budging until that TPPA ‘piece of sheight’ deal is signed, sealed and delivered to the US…. Then he can take all his ‘trust money’ out and retire to Hawaii. Job done.

  10. Order of John Key events on hidden trusts:

    1. No we disagree and won’t be looking into it.
    2. Maybe look into it, not sure.
    3. I have no money in hidden trusts
    4. Definitely no intention to look into it.
    4. I’ll have an inquiry set up with an international expert.
    6. I’ll have an inquiry set up with a hand selected tax expert.
    7. I have got money in a hidden trust but it’s my lawyers fault.

  11. Ok, I’m getting really annoyed regarding the lack of questioning around John Key and offshore funds…

I’ve emailed Andrew Little, Metiria Turei, Winston Peters and RNZ numerous times since last week asking them to ask Key the very simple question below. I am incredibly disappointed that from what I can see this hasn’t been asked yet… I would ask the question of John Key publicly myself, but I don’t have access to him like the media do, or like the politicians do during question time.

    My question:

“Can Mr Key confirm whether he, or any of his family members (including mum and any siblings) have, or stand to, directly or indirectly benefit from, or have access to loans from, any funds that are held in offshore structures such as, but not limited to, trusts. Additionally, can Mr Key confirm whether any of the Trusts that he and his family members have established in New Zealand have, or stand to, directly or indirectly benefit from, or have access to loans, from any funds that are held in offshore structures such as, but not limited to, trusts.”

I realise this is a very long winded question, but the wording is crucial. Key likes to try and avoid answering questions honestly by being very particular about how he answers them… I believe the above question is broad enough and direct enough to ensure he cannot mislead the public with his answering.

    What am I talking about?

Key has been asked by the media numerous times about whether HE has money overseas… listen to his answers. Note that firstly that he is careful to note (repeatedly) that HE doesn’t have funds overseas… And in the Hosking case, he even notes that there is nothing to embarrass him in Panama (the fact that he noted that there is nothing to hide in Panama is a slip from him in my opinion; ie, he didn’t discount there being something to embarrass him in other territories).

    Interview with Mike Hosking:

    http://www.nzherald.co.nz/business/news/article.cfm?c_id=3&objectid=11620292

Hosking: “Have you got money overseas?”
Key: “Ah I don’t, no no”

Hosking: “Nothing in there that’s going to embarrass you?”
    Key: “Nothing in Panama, no”

John Key during Q&A session with Media as reported on Checkpoint:

    http://www.radionz.co.nz/national/programmes/checkpoint/audio/201796944/pm-has-deposit-in-law-firm-specialising-in-foreign-trusts

“If I had a foreign trust, that would have to be declared and the rules in NZ would mean that I would be subject to tax on that cause you are taxed as a settlor and um I don’t have those things, I have the two trusts I’ve had and I’ve always had them for the time I’ve been Prime Minister, um they’re completely above board”

Ok so incase you need me to translate the above to you, (in my opinion) this reads that he isn’t the settlor of any offshore investment structures – fine, I’d be surprised if he had his name as a settlor on any offshore structures. However, I believe this to be semantics – I want to hear someone ask him to confirm whether his family members, or any trusts in NZ that his family has established have funds in offshore structures, and whether they have access to, whether by way of loans or income, from such overseas structures. If he answers “No” then that’s fine, I personally won’t believe it and think that this would come back to haunt him later, but the fact that no one has actually asked him this yet, especially after I’ve done my best to spell it out that the questions that have been asked so far aren’t worded correctly is so incredibly disappointing.

If anyone has contacts in the Media or in Parliament, can you please ask them to ask John Key my question (and ensure that the question is worded correctly to ensure that Key can’t use semantics to potentially mislead with an answer).

I will be starting to email (and no doubt annoy) so of Little, Turei and Peters’ subordinates in the hope that they will ask the question in parliament – wish me luck, ain’t had much so far.

    Best regards,
    Doug

  13. The ‘reveal’ of Little Andy’s financial position in parliament this week was rather interesting.

Tell me, how does a guy on a fat union lawyers salary and then an MP’s salary for 20 years still have a mortgage and zero investments?

    Is he lying?

Is he simply hopeless with money?

Does he have some unusual and expensive tastes that we’re not aware of?

    Is he paying someone off?

Or is he hiding it in trusts?
