Andrew Little will release his tax records today, why won’t John Key? If Key really hasn’t benefitted from the tax haven he has built, he’ll match Little’s transparency and release his tax records won’t he?

Will Key be as honest?

  1. Sadly, you can predict the response in the blogosphere/forum threads – “Little’s never had a bloody job, so of course he doesn’t have any trusts” or words to that effect. Key’s supporters aren’t going to turn on him – They are guided by the cult of personality, not by reason.

  2. Key will never release his and the media won’t exert any pressure on him to do so. Instead they’ll pick part Little’s looking for something tlhat he can be criticised for however trivial. It’s not a level playing field.

  3. Go Andrew Little. Nice one. Don’t think Mr Key will be as honest and transparent and he is the PM!

David Cameron is proving he has nothing else to hide, will Mr Key who does not think NZ is a tax haven even though we are mentioned 60,000 times in the panama papers as one?

Perhaps he is equally as incorrect on the legitimacy of his tax affairs? As a PM of a country, the people should have the right to find out if Mr Key is honest or is he as corrupt as the Indonesian billionaire palm oil plantation owner or the people in prison over the financial crisis?

    • @ SAVENZ … “David Cameron is proving he has nothing else to hide, will Mr Key who does not think NZ is a tax haven even though we are mentioned 60,000 times in the panama papers as one?”

Well if FJK says he doesn’t think NZ is a tax haven, then he must be absolutely without a doubt correct and the Panama papers must be totally wrong! (sarc).

Isn’t that what our “honest” John expects us to swallow?

  4. The closest St. John Key will get to being honest is having some of the same letters in his name as that word.

  5. Just a political stunt by Little, his tax records will be so boring they would put an accountant to sleep.
Key on the other hand would have been smart enough to have tidied up his financial affairs before he entered politics and, while taking full advantage of all the international loop holes rich people use to ‘legally’ avoid paying tax, would not have been dumb enough to channel any money through a New Zealand based trust.
The only thing Key wants to keep secret is the true extent of his wealth. The figure of $20m has been arrived at as a good sign of success but not an obscene amount. After all I can win $20m tomorrow night on Lotto.

    • key was accused of insider trading Transrail shares whilst an MP, and he used his family trust. key and his wife made a lot of money. So it appears key is not so smart after all, he’s a currency trader who can’t help himself, and you can bet that his insider trading days hasn’t stopped since he became PM either.

And its now been revealed that John key’s lawyer that handles key’s trusts, is the head of a company which specializes in foreign trusts.

    • Where did you get a piddly 20m from? Talk of 50m was 8 years ago, and even that’s wrong. key has a lot more wealth than people know. Even the right wing media have admitted they don’t know how wealthy John key is becasue much is hidden.

    • Peter H, so whatever happened to “nothing to hide, nothing to fear”, that righties use to defend their state power encroachment on our privacy and civil liberties?? oh yeah, I forgot, two rules apply, one for them, one of the rest of us plebs.

  6. “Will Key be as honest?”

Has FJK ever been honest? NO! He doesn’t know the meaning of the word honesty. It’s a totally alien concept to him.

    Well done Andrew Little.

If FJK doesn’t meet Little’s challenge, then it could be suspected he’s hiding something, which given his devious demeanour, is hardly surprising!

I’d also like to see the other party leaders reveal their tax records as well … Peters, Shaw, Turei, Flavell, Dunne and Seymour. Come on, stand with Little and rise to the occasion!

  7. Andrew Little has released his tax records. John Key said on Monday that he was “totally, 100 per cent confident” that his “tax affairs are absolutely above board and totally clean” then key should have no problem whatsoever in releasing his tax records too.

  8. Incredulously a right winger on a comment section on Stuff attacked Andrew Little for working !! I kid you not.

  9. The day John Key releases his tax records is the day I’ll cough my latte over my keyboard. Ain’t going to happen. He has quitec a bit to hide, I’ll bet.
