  1. Martyn last nights show (Flag Debate) missed your interviewing skills and wit. In my view its not a good idea to be too flippant with Andrew Little – we are looking to him for our next PM – now is the time for building respect…. (I’ll vote Greens)…… Look forward to seeing you back in the hot seat.

    • I have to agree Sam.
Martyn has given a master class in the art of interviewing this week which has made Waatea 5th Estate compulsory viewing.
His questions have been right on point and he has shown all his guests great respect which has resulted in some very interesting discussions.
Thursday night however was a shambles and one could have been forgiven for thinking it was Radio Live with pictures.
The only saviour was the class of Andrew Little and the Chairman of the R.S.A.
Rubbishing Andrew Little after he had gone of line is a classic Radio Live tactic.
What all this highlights is the cavernous gulf that lies between a real professional
journalist and one that has been under the influence of msm organistion like mediaworks .

  2. I never knew what a right-winger Willie Jackson was until seeing him on this interview regarding the flag.

He said throughout and near the end that the current New Zealand flag is a ‘symbol of pakeha domination and British colonialism’. Is this just shock-jock rhetoric? Or does he believe that bullshit?

The current flag, as it is being promoted by John Key, is more of a symbol of the long rich crowd, a symbol of corporatisation and oppression and a diversion to get TPPA legislation through.

Do you think Maori will be better off under John Key’s govt Willie? Prisons are currently running at 51% Maori? National are selling off state houses that Maori live in. Poor Maori kids are starving under National.

When the people in France under Louis said “The people are hungry” the answer was “Let them eat cake” When Mana, Harawira and other left-leaning critics of Key say “The kids are hungry”, Key says “Vote for a new flag!”

On this John Key flag issue Willie, you’re a it of a disgrace to Maoridom. Get real and tell him where to put his corporate flag. But I understand your dilemma Willie, having read Upton Sinclair …

“It is difficult to get a man to understand something, when his salary depends on his not understanding it.”

Good on you John Tamihere, you deserve the job of interviewer and Maori advocate at Waatea ahead of Willie RW Jackson.

    • I agree with everything you have said Winnie.
Jackson is quite willing to cut off his nose to spite ‘his peoples’ (joke) face.
I have heard John Tamihere as a solo host on Radio and he can be very engaging.
He has a lot of cultural capital and intellectual firepower which usually never sees the light of day.
      Hmm… food for thought!!
