Will Peter Jacksons new museum be 3 hours too long and get labour laws re-written by Parliament as well?

Bilbo Baggins leans against NZ taxpayer subsidy.

We’ve watched millions flushed down the toilet on Peter Jackson’s private jet before. So much money for 3 incredibly long movies that also saw us change our labour laws for a massive corporation seem unimaginative compared to Jackson’s latest plan to spend taxpayer dollars on his projects.

This time it’s $100 million for what looks like a glorified display cabinet for Weta Workshops. Less Disneyland, more Science undergrad geek zone where Elven becomes an official language.

Peter Jackson to pump millions into NZ’s $134m blockbuster plan
A movie museum, backed by film-makers Sir Peter Jackson and Sir Richard Taylor, will boast a “rare and unusual collection” of movie memorabilia that “can’t be seen anyway else in the world”, an insider says.

The museum will be part of a $134 million joint convention centre and museum to be built on Wellington’s waterfront if the council votes to give it the green light this afternoon.

Sir Peter and Sir Richard are backing the project, with a new company The Movie Museum Ltd, which will pump millions of dollars of their own money and their own movie memorabilia into the museum if councillors vote in favour of the development.

Then again, seeing as we let SkyCity build a convention centre for a law re-write and more problem gamblers, we may as well keep Peter in corporate jets rather than syphon it all off to a Casino.

    Documentary .

I was driving through the forests near Paradise ( Place near Glenorchy ) the other day and came upon a bunch of sword wielding weirdos bouncing about in the bush dressed in sacking while looking wildly excited about being out there amongst the mosses and the twigs. At first, I thought it was a West Coast barbecue during mushroom season but no, it was RIngs fans, dropped off in a van to live the dream.

Sir Pete ‘Jandles’ Jackson has a reported personal wealth of $600,000,000.00 . Yes, that’s six hundred million dollars. Say that slowly. SIx. Hundred. Million.Dollars.

Now, before @ Gosman, @ Steven , @ Ben, @ Andrewo, @ David etc, et al, pull out their penises and start waving them about while saying ” Aw , look mate. Not that small. If you look at it that way? See, the light’s perfect? A whole three inches there. ” I want to say… Normally, I wouldn’t care a fuck if Sir Jandles Jackson was worth billions. Trillions even . Who cares ? I don’t for one. I do care ,however, that I just can’t get past a croaky voiced and all but in tears Sir Jandles Jackson pleading, imploring via the tele to us good Kiwis to work to give up our taxes for his fantasy project . That, dear friends, sticks in my throat like someone else’s pubic hair after a funky night in with a friendly crowd.

Fuck Jandles Jackson. And fuck his museum. That whole $-134 million tax-$er’s, warners bros, jonky-stien thing? Yeah, nah, no class mate.

  2. Prepare yourself Martyn for the trolls to start protesting ‘you’re just envious’.
Amazing how that sense of entitlement kicks in though amongst some folk who were once ok people – the further they remove themselves from day to day reality; comfort themselves on their cushioned and increasingly fat arses; and learn ways to ignore and rationailse what’s happening to the less well off in our once egalitarian society.
(I just happened to watch 3 News and an item in which Rebecca Kitteridge featured – prime example).
This is a country I was born in – but it no longer feels like home.
Interesting also that E2NZ site – and in particular the references to international students, racism et al.
Christ – could I give you some stories about the experiences of some international students! Not just their experiences with Umm igration Nu Zull, but with our so-called, increasingly commodified kayshun system – the promises made but not delivered; the means by which they have to resort to to survive (prostitution, etc.); racial prejudices in obtaining accommodation; so-called legal ummigration sperts and ‘consultants’ – some blessed with that Helen Clarke hero-worship pragmatism (all the while having a conflict of interest with so-called public servant ummigration orificers – by way of ‘relationships’) …….; private tertiary insitutions that promised the world – and whose only accomplishments appear to have been the ability to pass due diligence – before delivering SFA and then going out of business!
    ……….

    • BTW ….. I see the usual trolls are on duty (4 in particular) that spend their time going about ticking the dislike icons as a matter of course. (No matter the thread. Where they aren’t able (such as TS), they’re forced to make some diversionary comment.
THey’re like ladders on threadbare stockings – they run all the way up to the arse

  3. All this taxpayer money is currently being spent by Government all around NZ this week.

    1/ Dunedin courthouse getting a big $15 m upgrade,

    2/Saudi sheep slaughter abattoir $5,

3/Nelson southern link truck road, $50m,

4/ New movie Museum and Wellington City Council is asking Government to contribute to it also.

We wouldn’t mind Government shelling out our “hard earned tax dollars on all projects if they actually did this equally but they aren’t are they?
Just take the Kiwirail rundown and deliberate sell off of all assets occurring gradually to render the rail in NZ dysfunctional and uncompetitive whole they are pouring tax money down the back of our public roads, mainly for increasing truck traffic as rail dies at the hands of this Government.

Truck traffic levels are now reported to be increasing all over the country at an alarming rate and are increasingly now killing people every week on our roads up and down the country under this toxic Government.

This week the Maritime industry head came out in the news asking Government to now support rail road and shipping as the way forward to reduce the trucks on our roads but we expect Government to ignore the call, as they did when Kiwirail have repeatedly asked for more support to restore our rail service but Government are hell bent on turning our rail infrastructure into a John Key cycle trail instead we fear, so this Government have certain agendas and important infrastructure projects like rail and Shipping are not one of them.
