Another MediaWorks radio brand in trouble and 3D sinks

You would think that Radio Live was pretty awful with Paul Henry in the morning, or The Edge goading female contestants into performing fellatio on vegetables, but MediaWorks other radio station, George FM have managed to trump them both…

Radio hosts accused of ‘slut-shaming’ 20-year-old live on air
Accusations are flying that two New Zealand radio hosts “slut-shamed” a 20-year-old woman live on air over her Instagram photos.

George FM Breakfast hosts Kara Rickard and Thane Kirby are under fire for comments made yesterday, according to a report on The Spinoff.

The report by Alex Casey says Rickard and Kirby, who celebrated five years on air today, spent part of their show yesterday discussing the Instagram accounts of women they described as, “do nothing b***hes”.

Rickard implied the label belonged to women who “just sit around and post half-naked pictures of themselves on Instagram”.

…wow. Just. Wow. While MediaWorks try to work out how they fix that nightmare, 3D, their much trumpeted Current Affairs show has rated so poorly it’s sinking from sight…

TV3 bumps 3D, adds 7 Days sports show
Mediaworks is bumping its Sunday evening current affairs show, 3D, to late Monday nights.

The show will screen at 9.30pm on Mondays and be replaced by sports programming.

…this following the ratings meltdown going on with Story.

I’m told the morale within MediaWorks is at an all time low. Dumping Campbell Live isn’t looking like that smart a move now is it and I’m not sure how 3 hours a day of Paul Henry and guests agreeing with Paul Henry is helping with the ratings. Radio Live is a bit of a joke in terms of news and none of this can be helping.

It seems like just a matter of time before the American vulture fund who own them start up the chainsaw.

  1. Mediaworks has descended into the lowest of the low. I have noticed the Campbell Live replacement current affairs program Story has quickly become mouldy.
    But then Julie Christie is involved in a company called NZ Story and so this botch-up replacement of Campbell Live reflects badly upon her and deservedly so.
    The PHS has regular Monday appearances of John Key.And hearing Key’s monotone voice is enough to send one into a coma as it’s that boring.Key tries to give his so-called ‘pearls of wisdom’ as if he is the world renowned expert on all things e.g the Labour Party etc. The guy(Key)is a major joke and the sooner people wake up to this maniac the better.
    Has anyone noticed how often Key ‘must’ make an appearance in our news? Is this an electioneering ploy by him and his spin doctors that by the time there is an elections most stupid NZers know what the idiot looks like???

  3. Their desperation to create a right-wing third rate imitation of the Fox News media machine, hasn’t got off the ground. Since they basically purged ‘the left’, their news shows are as credible as a guy interviewing his own sock puppet.

    NZ doesn’t have big enough a population to support two+ news shows that appeal to Nats only aka there has to be one right-wing hack to rule them all, and in the darkness bind them [Nats].

    If Mediaworks thought it could just snub 500,000+ potential viewers in a country as small as NZ, it was severely mistaken.

    • Exactly. When one channel has Yin on it follows from simple business sense by anyone with a double digit IQ to then put Yang on your channel during that time. What we have now is Yin all the time. The John Key really has pretty much achieved full spectrum pro-National coverage. He’s our Silvio Berlusconi, except Berlusconi actually bought and paid for all his propaganda organisations.

    I used to listen to Radio Live driving down to Gisborne as it was about the only strong signal, but in the last six months I have abandoned it entirely like TV3.

    I got totally sick of the right wing crap all the time as they are just radical with it now that I cant bother listening any more.

    No loss I am learning to wrote blogs to stay sane now.

    I know this is off the subject but can you make a story out of this video and spread it around as the story is so worth watching you will see how we have been manipulated by elections here since Shonkey got started in 2007 here.

    The elections are rigged alright no question, and maybe the polls as well?

    Anything that is transferred across the web in digital transmission is liable to be changed by these electronic programs.

  7. Well, I guess as long as the NatzKEY right wing propaganda machine MediaWorks promotes FJK and his cretinous mob, then everything else fades into insignificance!

    MediaWorks visual medium TV3 is on its way out, through FJK’s personal interference of placing cronies Walden and Christie in directorship roles, to ensure his BS and lies are broadcast on a regular basis to the masses!

  9. John Campbell’s a genuinely nice guy, and I can’t really picture him taking pleasure from the misfortunes of others, but there must be a tiny part of him right now that’s absolutely loving MediaWorks’ ongoing death spiral.

  10. There must be a way of starting another network or similar. Something free of the right-tending arse-lickers of the present MSM. Maybe we could call it “The Daily Blog Radio Show, for the news no-one wants you to know about.”
