The lengths National have gone to hide the true nature of the Saudi sheep bribe really are extraordinary…

Foreign Minister Murray McCully wanted to set up his deal over the Saudi Arabian farm so lawyers and bureaucrats would not be involved.

He did not want the payments to the Al Khalaf Group called “compensation” for the losses they suffered as a result of New Zealand’s ban on the export of live sheep for slaughter.

And his aides were busy instructing the Al Khalaf Group what wording to use on their invoices even before the Cabinet had approved the project.

All of this is contained within the hundreds of papers released by Mr McCully on Tuesday afternoon as he flew off to meetings in Malaysia.

…and the media’s response to this bewildering level of political abuse? They’ve either ignored the story in favour of petty celebrity gossip, given it a once only lightly update or actually blamed Labour.

If Labour had been caught out bribing a businessman from a brutal regime and then covering it up in this manner, the NZ Herald would be running editorial after editorial after editorial against them. TV3 news would be leading it as the corruption of the century and ZB would be publishing the homes of Labour Party MPs to firebomb alongside molotov cocktail recipes.

National do it and the media shrug and as Mike Hosking so incredibly claimed last week, ‘nothing to see here, move along’.

I appreciate the double standards against the left are enormous in this country, but this is becoming delusional.

  1. the corrupt protecting the corrupt is what it has all become now…
and still its ok with a lot of people that is what annoys me most – the sleeple not giving a flying about corruption…

    • Yes its’ “all care & now responsibility” today as these thieves steal our last bits of treasures our past generations had built for us all, and they flitter it away like traders of lost remnants in a fire sale.
Every smart meter they install on our homes & businesses will enable foreign buyers to turn our power off at will from Berlin, Brussels or NY if we don’t submit to their demands as we are loosing our control of all assets water power gas ect’.

This government are clearly setting out to bankrupt us finally so we will submit to any toxic hand-out like TPPA..

  2. The NZ MSM have decided to change the definition of corruption to actions done only by the political left opposition. The same things done by the political right government are deemed perfectly legitimate and acceptable.

  3. The bullshit surrounding our media is an embrassment. They are in fact more like a school paper than NZs suppliers of news.
Hell, even a school paper would be expected to do better than this.

Then people wonder why or how national got back in yet again even after dirty politics.
Our media is a fucking disgrace, never mind the politicians. ..

  4. I’ve lived and worked in some of the shittiest places on the planet (the Congo, Mideast etc), so it causes me almost physical pain to see my own lovely country slowly being transformed into a corrupt, mean-spirited society. The PM and his sorry bunch of mates don’t even bother to cover their tracks anymore. Corruption and cynicism spread down from the top, and you can already see it happening before your eyes. Give it 10 years and we’ll be like one of those backward countries where the border guards take your passport and you have to “buy” it back with a bribe.

    • I agree MalcoNZ,

I worked in Rhodesia, now (Zimbabwe) and north West Australia where it is considered very remote, and they even had better ideals for a community involvement than we have now under this NatZ government.

In those countries you would feel a part of the system.

But now we are not considered by this Government any more as they can then easily plot our future downfall with their sell-out policies.

      Tyrants the lot they are.

  5. Agreed with all – There maybe one hope – social media, which has proven to put pressure on the “so called’ powers that be. Like the TV3 boycott, which I’m sure is hurting their bottom line. Perhaps as more turn to this medium, and turn away from TV, newspapers etc, the more aware they may become…

  6. Corruption in this country has been ongoing since the British Officials sailed in. The British Empire honed corruption to suit its needs. And we obey. We obeyed then and we obey today. Some get knighted for their obedience. I wonder who will wield the sword for Key.

  7. I have good news and I have good news!!!! Passing on in good faith the news I have just received.

The currency reset (NESARA) will start in September. For those in the banking cabal it will be a disaster (they gonna lose their money 😀 ) but for us it will be an end to debt slavery. You wont be hearing this from the MSM.

Happy to bring good news. Hang on farmers.

  8. The Prime Minister’s biographer should not need to jump into the sheep bribe debate to tell us there’s no corruption unless there’s real cause.

The real cause is Key looking bad because of corruption under his watch.
Does John Roughan’s column convince me there’s nothing to the suspicion? No.

  9. Shipping live sheep for slaughter is abuse and horror and greed taken to insane levels ! ! and the truth cover up is way beyond just and right.

Continue the MSM boycott – tell others to boycott and why.

Thanks again Martyn and the Daily Blog media outlet that offers a platform for the truth and — serves the people — where the govt. owned media fails miserably.

    • They weren’t being shipped for slaughter, but for breeding, apparently. Not that I agree with any of what was done.

  10. Putting some context around this debate would help. For example, my investigation tells me, that Al Khalaf bred Awassi sheep (a breed native to Syro-Arabia). He had investments in three properties in the Hawkes Bay and from 1989 to 2003 exported approx 5M of these NZ bred sheep to the Middle East, then Labour stops live sheep exports.

It seems to me Al Khalaf had a business which was ruined with the decision of the Labour government. I do not know what happened that resulted in the settlement, but what I do know is that if my business was ruined by some PC decision based on an Australian shipment which incurred an unacceptable level of deaths, I would be looking for some compensation. Because, I understand there is not a great market for the Awassi breed in NZ

  11. Key and his cronies can do anything and get away with it as he has a public audience who absolutely adores him and his wealth that he created on Wall St, and the media are still infatuated with him especially his rags to riches story. He should get another term if not two.

  12. IRS officials had not even tried to recover them. I think what he was really saying was that they have gone to great lengths to hide the evidence This affects all of America.
