Latest Roy Morgan – Labour up 6% to 32% – National down 6.5% to 43% – Labour + Green beats National for first time since May 2014.

Looks like Labour’s gamble on asking hard questions about Chinese investment into residential market might work as a circuit breaker.

Lesson? Don’t listen to Twitter.

The impact of Labour’s move however won’t be seen until the next group of Polls as this one was conducted before their Chinese investment publicity.

  1. Your deluded. The RM poll only finished the day after the release of the dodgy data, and the RM is all over the place, the most wildly fluctuating of all the polls. Just wait and see, things will be back to normal next month.

  2. Wasn’t it Newton who said ‘ what goes up , must come down’ ?

    Or might have been some 17th century economist , I dunno…or a street cleaner – who really knows?

    But some things never change and its the same with Premier Kee…like the old saying ‘ too cunning for his own good ‘…

    Now….bout that lil ole Foreign Owners Register….something we can all relate too now that the smokescreen of ‘ racism ‘ has cleared….

    I think its time we can all have that honest democratic disclosure of just WHATS been going on in our own country behind our backs , now , cant we…..

  3. Interesting thaty the Roy Morgan Poll refers to falling consumer confidence;

    The Roy Morgan government confidence rating dropped to its lowest since September 2013 while ANZ-Roy Morgan New Zealand Consumer Confidence Rating fell to 113.9 in July – the lowest since October 2012.

    TheWestpac consumer confidence survey reports similar reults;

    Consumer Confidence in New Zealand decreased to 113 in the second quarter of 2015 from 117.40 in the first quarter of 2015.

    The Rock Star economy – founded on a three trick pony-act; dairy prices; an unsustainable Auckland housing bubble; and the Christchurch re-build – is headed for a hang-over.

    As with many “rock stars”, it was all about glitter, special effects, and lots of noise. But not much else.

    Dear Leader: “Hey, look over there, Nu Zeelun’ – a flag referendum!!”

    New Zealand: “Piss off, mate, we’re not falling for that one again.”

    Question is – who or what will National target now, to create the next “distraction”?

    • Um….is it about now we start singing ‘ Waterloo ‘ by ABBA ,… or shall we hold off and then start singing refrains of ‘ Yesterday ‘ by the Beatles ?

      And for an epitaph perhaps we could send off the National party with Pink Floyd’s ‘MONEY ‘ as the reason why they lied to us…

      Rockstars….yeah right…

    • Maybe Gypsy needs to say things like;

      “National for a brighter future”

      Or maybe

      “We have a rock star economy”

      he will always believe it as he is programed to believe it.

  4. Yes we need to get rid of the Shonkey and his mates but I can’t see the point of replacing one bunch of Ratbags with another. The present Labour Bunch should change the Party name to Nat-Lite and let us get a proper party of the Left!

  5. If you want to read a brilliant (and funny) response to the Roy Morgan poll go to:

    click on to North comment – second one down.

  6. The economy is on the slide.

    People may be starting to notice that our dairy is in freefall, our dollar is in freefall and our private and public debt is rocketing.

    Citizens are dying in damp cold houses and living in caravans and containers because they can’t afford to pay rent.

    Our workers dying in unsafe workplaces. Over 200 have died and over 20 000 injured since what should have been a major wake up call at Pike River. But still our workers are killed and maimed as they work in forestry, building, fishing and farming.

    Property speculators from Berlin, Boston and Beijing run amok as they buy up our houses and land, condemning our young to be Generation Rent.

    Our privatised prisons are out of control, sold off to a dodgy British company who profit from others’ misery.

    Meanwhile Key and English twiddle their thumbs while Rome burns, trusting in the market.

    People are joining the dots.

    This government does not represent their interests.

  7. so Labour is trying to win by using racism (again) and this is good why …? Your analysis of the situation is shocking Martyn.

    • Grow up URS.

      Using the race card yourself don’t cut it sonny.

      We call a spade a spade, not like you dogging the issue with cheap slander.

      Go get a real job not be just a NatZ troll for money.

      Chinese did this in Kenya from 1970 and now are spreading across the globe.

      So wake up wherever you live, it cant be here as you would have talked about the devastating financial shit NZ is entering with this speculative property bubble these foreign capitalists are flooding in here with interest free Government money.

      Winston said it would happen, weren’t’ you listening two years ago?

  8. Well if we do get a change let’s hope New Zealand’s membership of The Club of Rome – Committee of 300 is cancelled!!!

  9. This is to be expected, the economy, the backbone of NatACT propaganda, is turning down and into custard, and people start realising this. How is the plan going to get 25 percent of all beneficiaries into work now, dear Minister Anne Tolley, you have with your party become one other folly, I fear?

    Pride comes before the fall, they say in some cultures, we are now witnessing the results.
