The failed experiment of kiwi FM has finally been shut off. The Labour Party for reasons not even they seem to actually be sure of, handed over the 3 frequencies to MediaWorks who were more than happy to take them and kill off any commercial free youth radio station.
Why we have allowed a foreign owned company to have 3 free frequency yes for so long has never been explained.
The Crown now take the frequencies back and my proposal of RNZ2 – using a Gen X progressive talkback format that allows sponsorship and pipes in Radio NZ news- can now be pushed through the Radio NZ Board.
Interesting times ahead.
Youth needs the enter into the discussion – it is their future too. It needs to be encouraged.
Yes this could be our balance of a community voice and Opposition political Party Conduit to get our “other side of the story out”?
CLEANGREEN;
Good spotting again.
And what about Marty? 2-3hr slot on talk back?
After all, you’re only banned from RNZ 1 ?
Cheers.
Youth music coupled to youth politics?
Now isn’t that an interesting idea?
What better way to engage young folk in politics than by using those things they enjoy; music being one of them.
Yes. We could call it “The Wireless” even. Politics, social concerns from the perspective of those who’ve ‘grown up in the digital age’ combined with new music/NZ music.
