The National Government’s sinister 90 day eviction plan has begun as part of their neighbourhood gentrification program. Raniera Kahu Ariki who is wheel chair bound, has been handed a 90 day eviction notice to get out of his Mount Albert state house after 7 years. Mr Kahu Ariki who lives with his sister and her children at the premise has been told they are no longer permitted to live in Auckland. In fact the only option they have been offered is 100km away in Northland.

Mr Kahu Ariki physical disabilities require him to live in the Mt Albert area close to doctors and medical facilities. Housing New Zealand are not prepared to offer Mr Kahu Ariki a humane option in Mount Albert because they have 4000 people on the HNZ waiting list.

The reason housing New Zealand cited as Mr Kahu Ariki eviction is his alleged anti-social behaviour, housing New Zealand have had noise complaints from 2 years ago from a former neighbour who excessively called noise control. On 97% of the call outs by noise control they couldn’t detect excessive noise. The problem with the eviction is these complaints occurred 2 years ago and since the irritable neighbour has moved away this is no longer an issue.

Mr Kahu Ariki was offered $20,000 to install a disability shower by ACC. Housing New Zealand rejected the alterations to be made on the state house based on Mr Kahu Ariki alleged anti-social behaviour. Mr Kahu Ariki suffers from lack of hygiene because housing New Zealand blocked his shower renovations making him dependent on his sister Waiata Kahu Ariki for showers and baths.

Housing New Zealand has given Raniera and Waiata till the 16th March to get out. This total lack of empathy shocked their social worker James Papalii who was very concerned.

I reject the anti-social behaviour claims (playing a stereo) Housing New Zealand have been ruthless with the Kahu Ariki family using any excuse to cruelly evict this family from an upper class suburb. Human rights are low priority considering Mr Kahu Ariki advised an employee from Housing New Zealand has told him “You will never rent private home ever”. That would seem obvious as a landlord would prefer to get a tenant they didn’t need to build a disability ramp while demand for housing is so high.

  1. Ode to John XKEYscore….sung to the tune of ‘ I’m an arsehole ‘ by Denis Leary.

I’m an irregular John with an irregular job
Laughing at your average white suburbanite slob
I get selfies with footballers ,like porno and books about war
A mansion in Hawaii with a nice hardwood floor
My wife and my job , and one of Obama’s Cuban cigars

But sometimes that aint enough to keep a man like me interested in being PM…
I gotta go out and have fun at someones else’s expense
At the end of the day , I cant tell you that but I can say this , oh yeah , oh yeah

I live my life fast in the ultra fast lane
While all working poor are going insane
I’m an arsehole ( he’s an arsehole, what an arsehole )
I’m an arsehole (he’s an arsehole , such an arsehole )

I privatize state houses and piss on renters heads
I walk round Northland campaigning though its halfway dead
I’m an arsehole (he’s an arsehole , what an arsehole )
    I’m an arsehole ( he’s an arsehole , what an arsehole )

Sometimes I park in handicapped spaces
While handicapped people make handicapped faces
I’m an arsehole (he’s an arsehole , what an arsehole )
I’m an arsehole (he’s an arsehole , such an arsehole )

Maybe I shouldn’t be singing this song
Ranting and raving and carrying on
Maybe their right when I deny that I’m wrong
NAAAAH !….but at the end of the day….

    I’m an arsehole ( he’s an arsehole , what an arsehole )
I’m an arsehole (he’s an arsehole , such an arsehole )

I leap to my feet in parliament chambers
And commit us to war along with the American Rangers
My goons spy on you – and you all buy it
The bought media too – so I can deny it

    COS !

    I’m an arsehole ( he’s an arsehole , what an arsehole )

    • Wild katipo,

What a wonderful portrait of a tyrant who has turned toxic.

Key has turned NZ into a selfie uncaring despot from where we were a gentle loving carefree people with compassion we have turned toxic as John Key is and I am ashamed to be here to see what he has done to destroy our once harmonious society.

Key is a lair, a carpetbagger & a Judas priest.

  2. If there’s not ten thousand people turn to stop the eviction of Raniera Kahu Ariki then all is lost and we way as well go to ground and hope to God they don’t come for us too .

    • Get Mr Tavares to climb on Mr Ariki’s roof – it worked for a 500 year old kauri. I’m sure it can’t go any worse for Raniera Kahu Ariki – can it?

      • They aren’t planning on knocking the house down so 8 doubt climbing on the roof will make any difference.

        • I thought you were very concerned about housing the poor, Gosman? So much so that you are ok with felling trees that are hundreds of years old.

You seem to have changed your tune, somewhat.

          • I have made no comment regarding whether this man should be evicted or not so I’m not sure why you think that. All I pointed out was someone climbing on the roof of the State house in question is unlikely to stop this man being evicted from it.

Whether he should be evicted or not is a matter between Housing NZ and himself. He is entitled to all the legal support that people are willing to provide him in this. I strongly suspect that it is a little more complicated than the over simplified case painted by Mr Trinder though.

            • As usual….Gosman …

You are failing badly in recognizing the fact that even the legal fraternity discern between the ‘Letter ‘ of the law and the ‘ Spirit’ of the law.

I think this will be viewed poorly indeed by the general public however ‘ simple ‘ you may deem it.

  3. Just how low can people get, especially someone like Key, and his minister for housing? Enough is enough people. Sign the petition to dismiss Key. It’s on facebook and twitter.

    • I do not go on free to state surveillance sites. Is there anywhere else i can sign?
Does anyone know if this man have anywhere to live after he is evicted?

      • It us rather sweet that you think online petitions or other activities will lead to the government of NZ being replaced.

        • I think it’s rather sweet of you, Gosman, coming back to a left-wing blog day after day, spouting your right wing childish nonsense, and expecting us to take you seriously.

          😀

        • @ Gasman . It’s rather sweet , if not a little sickly , that you think we still have a government . Ironically , it was “petitions and other activities” that gave rise to the government that you talk of which was once rich and settled but was parasitised , cannibalised and pimped to corportates until it died. No doubt aided and abetted by enthusiastic traitors such as yourself because are you not , by your own admission , a money fiddler now toying with logical fallacies to defend your wet- dream Jonky -Stien ?

  4. I’m sorry but this article is ridiculously biased.

The fact still remains that he appears to have played his stereo incessantly and at a noise that did lead to excessive noise complaints being upheld.

That shows no-consideration or respect to other state housing tenants forced to listen to music going 24/7.

    • @ HOSEA . You’re comment is ridiculously ignorant . Mr Ariki’s stereo might have been too loud . But then it’s not too difficult to take a stereo off a wheel chair bound man I’d a thought . About as easy as removing him from a soon to be jonky gift to the developers and by default , the Banks .
Your comment is anachronistic and shows you don’t follow events closely . Or worse , you’re just another jonky-phile .

    • Seriously? that was 2 years ago, and the serial complainant has left, and there appears to be no further complaints. Didn’t you read the part that said” On 97% of the call outs by noise control they couldn’t detect excessive noise” So do you honestly think that is a good enough reason to evict this family?

    • HOSEA

Your Government is guilty of the same residential noise 24/7 and ignores citizens complaints?

We now have a Government who has forced closure of our Napier Gisborne railway and this will increase the road truck freight through three cities with 12 000 residents who live within 60 meters of the intended truck routes and will now increase the noise Vibration & pollution to their neighbours homes 24/7 because natZ wont repair the rail.

So using your logic are the government also “a bad neighbour incessantly causing a noise that did lead to excessive noise complaints” as we have already 2000 residents petition complaining also of the 24/7 truck noise but when we submitted it to Government to restore the rail service for mitigation against more truck noise , vibration & Pollution the Government ignored us all????

HOSEA, Do you have an adequate answer why a tenant is evicted by this same Government that caused 12000 residents to bear 24/7 noise yet this same Government isn’t evicted for the same issues of complaint of noise?

      • How did the government force the closure of the Napier – Gisborne railway line? I thought this was an operational decision made by NZ Rail.

  5. Will they drag Mr ariki, in his whellchair, from his home?

Well, if that doesn’t lead the 6PM News on both channels, and shame New Zealanders into anger, then we really have lost our way as a nation.

A stand must be taken on Mr Ariki’s impending eviction. If the Nats can get away with this, then every other state house tenant is fair game.

  6. the one million people who really needed to vote to stop this wont and dont want to i door knocked state areas before the election we told them national would evict them all
i got was abuse indifference and cant be bothered so to bad. they dont want homes they want evicted this is what the none vote guaranteed

  7. Disgusting! Labour seem big on state housing, has anyone tried to contact them?

Let’s face it, housing NZ want him gone, probably to sell the place.

If noise was an issue, they should have issued him a 10 day notice 2 years ago and then had it heard from the tenancy tribunal. I don’t think housing NZ are supposed to be judge, jury and executioner!

Also even if the tenant was noisy, you still can’t evict unless you have given 10 day notice and had it heard by the tribunal.

Given he is also disabled there should be more sensitivity to this issue.
