Headline: Kiwis still being stung over ACC

Despite almost half of all working Kiwis not getting a pay rise in the last year they are still being gouged through ACC levies that are being kept artificially high, Labour’s ACC spokesperson Iain Lees-Galloway says.

“Judith Collins might have dodged my questions in the House today but not once did she deny that the Government is over-charging people on ACC in its attempt to create a phony surplus.

“Nor did she deny that next year’s planned reductions are much less than they could be. The Budget predicts levy reductions will total just $480 million, while ACC says a $650 million reduction would be sustainable.

“Employees and employers have already been so over-charged that the accounts they pay into are flush to the tune of 130 per cent of future funding requirements, yet National plans to continue the rort just so they can pretend they’ve got the books in order.

“Kiwis will continue to pay far too much for ACC if National is allowed to stay in Government.

“Labour believes everyone should get a fair deal from ACC. That means fair treatment and fair compensation in return for a fair levy. New Zealand can trust Labour to put people first and give everyone a fair go.”

  1. National trumpetting about how it has managed ACC levies is like someone claiming credit for fixing something that wasn’t broken.
