The Tau Henare arsehole factor & why it needs to influence Labour strategy

Tau Henare is an arsehole of the highest order and his decision to lash out at a cleaner on low wages is almost beyond comprehension…

Henare apologises for comments about cleaner
National MP Tau Henare has apologised for saying he had little sympathy for a worker who cleaned more than 100 toilets a night at Parliament for little pay.

Mr Henare was criticised for comments he made yesterday about a submitter to a select committee, who had told MPs of the difficulty of her work.

Cleaner Mareta Sinoti made a tearful plea to the committee not to proceed with wide-ranging employment law reforms.

She said she was doing the work of many people and cleaned up to 130 toilets a night in Bowen House, where some MPs were based.

“It’s a hard job, a dirty job, but we don’t mind being cleaners. We are proud to clean the most important house in the country. But we don’t love our pay – we get $14.10 an hour.”

Asked whether he felt for the cleaner, Mr Henare told reporters: “Here’s the question – if she doesn’t want the job, give it to somebody else that wants the job.”

He added: “I’m not the employer. Are we supposed to feel sorry for every person in New Zealand who’s got a hard job?”

…the condescending spite Tau is exhibiting here is the ‘Tau Henare arsehole factor’, it is representative of a total lack of empathy by National Party voters to those less fortunate than themselves. 70% of National Party voters don’t know anyone who is unemployed, this creates a gated societal perspective which simply can’t see the social justice issues Labour will want to debate. The inequality Labour will point to is invisible to many National voters meaning there is no point in moving to the centre to try and win them over.

The Tau Henare arsehole factor means Labour should work to win over the 800000 enrolled non-voters who were left wing but who didn’t see any real difference between National and Labour rather than move to the centre to try and capture voters who can’t see the issues Labour raise.

  1. I would love to see Tau on that old programme Make The Politician Work!!! Imagine cleaning up the splattered shit from those fat bastards who look like they eat and drink grog all day. What an ugly display of arrogance ‘snout in the trough/arse on the toilet’ prick. Those beautiful proud woman probably won’t even have time to vote. They form a part of the forgotten people in our society these days, it’s just sad.

  2. Thanks for referencing the Stuff article that stated “But more than 70 per cent of National voters reported no-one in their circle was unemployed”. I had no idea the political gap between the haves and have-nots was so pronounced.

I think Labour needs to stick to its own media strategy, never allowing the media to paint the traditional story of a battle between left and right, liberal and conservative etc. Instead, Labour should present themselves as decent, talented, capable and motivated people in stark contrast to “a pack of self-serving arseholes”. That is, Labour shouldn’t campaign as lefty liberal, but rather as decent and spineful. They should refuse at all times to play the roles the media will expect and want them to play.

    • I second that. It’s crucial that all those who oppose this Nat/ACT government tell their own story, rather than playing their assigned roles in corporate media melodramas.

  3. So glad you have posted this Bomber Tau Henare is a bludger in a suit
and has never had any credibility and contributes nothing at all he should be huing out for what was despecible comments I can recall when he jumped from NZ First to the Nats he wanted to help people yeah right.

  4. Hear hear Martyn. Tau Henare is the epitome of an arrogant bludging piece of excrement. Unfortunately, he is only one of many on the Gnat side of the House! His comments and attitude the other day, re parliament’s cleaning staff, would undoubtedly reflect the opinion of the majority of Gnat, Act and UF! Scurrilous ratbags the lot of them!

Those women can hold their heads up high for the God awful job they do! Despite the absolute filth (and in parliament, it will be the filthiest) they deal with each day, they still refer to their job as a privilege, cleaning the most important house in NZ! That speaks volumes about the good decent people they are. Something which can’t be said about the low life scum they clean up after!

The Tau Henares of this world won’t be around for too much longer. His actions are giving voters a good insight of the attitude prevailing in the Gnat party. The facade of the Key led Gnat gits, is wearing thin now and the public don’t like the reality of what they see underneath! Hence the latest Herald digi poll results, favouring Labour.

  5. Mareta Senoti, like Dilma Roussef, is an outspoken heroine of the war on humanity. I was privileged to catch her speaking in the submissions to parliament on the shafting-the-worker-even-more bill. What a great lady! It was disgusting to witness the cold fish reaction on the faces of those beauraucrats listening so condescendingly between bowel movements. I propose permanent role reversals between her and the honorable member, remunerated accordingly. As it is, Jonkey is saying minimum wage is not affordable BUT we can subsidise Oracle to the tune of $1m plus so they can keep their damn cup:http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=11131723
