Te Hamua Nikora

“I want to know if Labour opposes the Sky City convention deal or not?” says MANA Candidate for Ikaroa-Rawhiti Te Hamua Nikora following the revelations that Labour leader David Shearer and fellow Labour MP’s Phil Goff, Kris Faafoi and Clayton Cosgrove, were in the Sky City Corporate Box at Eden Park when the All Blacks played France over the weekend.

“I mean you can’t jump up and down and say that this Government is doing dirty deals with Sky City by allowing them to have extra pokies in return for a new convention centre and then in the next breath join the Sky City top brass in their corporate box being wined and dined?  In my book that’s called hypocrisy”.

“Gambling is a huge issue that affects Maori up and down the country, including Ikaroa-Rawhiti.  I want to know from my Labour opponent if she condones the actions of those Labour MP’s who accepted the invite of Sky City?  Does she think they are a pack of hypocrites for putting the boot into them for the convention deal and then watching a rugby test from the comfort of their corporate box?”

“I can’t figure out Labour at the moment.  First their leader tells the voters of Ikaroa-Rawhiti he is going to terrorise their political opponents and then a group of their own MP’s jump into bed with Sky City corporates after having bagged them”.

“You can’t have it both ways Labour”.
