National building an empire of problem gamblers

   If you know a problem gambler, you know how destructive and wasteful it can be. Sitting in front of a pokie machine empting all they have in it, any money they win is put back in. You can tell if they’re winning money by the duration of the session, but they always come out broke. Worst still is when they start pawning items, especially frustrating if the items are not theirs but the household’s, so you have to hide many items. The constant mooching for money is also very annoying; if none is given you have to persist with a very moody person moping around and occasionally verbal abuse. Worse still are cases where they’re indebted; overdrafts, loans, etc. It’s only too easy to imagine the damage done if they have a family.

   Just one problem gambler affects many people and our PM is comfortable with that indeed exacerbate it. It would be reassuring if more people wake up and quit their infatuation with this felon.
