First up: Wednesday is May Day and has been chosen as the day to announce the new bloggers who will be joining us. In celebration of this and also a little bit because we just feel like it, we will be having drinks in the evening. Come join us at The Gypsy Tearooms on Richmond Rd from 7.00pm onwards. All are welcome.

Someone needs to have words with Auckland Museum and First Thursdays so that we don’t have to continue picking between LATE and First Thursdays (sure it may only happen a couple of times a year but it leaves me paralysed with FOMO for a good week leading up to it, unable to decide what to go to).

So, option one for Thursday night this week is this years first offering of LATE at the Museum. This year’s theme is Of Gods And Men, and promises to be excellent. First up, Zeus and Hera inspiring a discussion about families. Led by Noelle McCarthy, the panel features Conrad Reyners and Dr Susan Morton. There will be music from Opossom and a themed menu. The menu is a new offering this year and appears to have replaced the themed exhibitions and other entertainment that were features last season.

Option two is First Thursdays. Which is really a misnomer now. Its should be First Thursday-through-Sunday. Thursday night is your classic First Thursdays deal; markets, exhibitions, artists, presentations etc etc. BUT THEN! The bstreet kicks off from 8pm- 20 artists over 8 venues. Nice. BUT you need a bCard, consider this your heads up. Live street art kicks off on Friday and activities continue across the weekend. I will let you explore the programme for yourselves.

It’s the Labour Book Fair on Saturday at the Mt Eden Village Centre from 9am-3pm. All proceeds go the the Central Auckland Hub. Books can be dropped off on Friday from 5pm-10pm.

The Comedy Festival continues, our picks are here.

In other exciting news! I have a new toy! It’s a pretty Liberal Agenda Events Calendar. It can be accessed from the homepage on the right-hand side using the button located under the mini-calendar that says ‘Check Out Our Events Calendar’. Or through The Liberal Agenda tab up the top. The brilliant thing about it is that there is an easy form to fill out  which allows you to tell us about any events that you know of. So if you’re involved in organisations or campaigns or just know of something interesting that’s happening, please drop us a line so we can share it around.
