Former Deputy PM Paula Bennett appointed Pharmac board chair

Former Deputy Prime Minister Paula Bennett has been appointed as the new board chair of the drug-buying agency Pharmac.

Associate Health Minister David Seymour announced the appointment on Sunday morning.

“Pharmac is a critical part of New Zealand’s health system and plays a significant role in ensuring that Kiwis have the best possible access to medicines,” Seymour said.

“As chair, Paula will lead the Pharmac board in their role of managing the pharmaceutical schedule and driving greater efficiencies and access to medicine for New Zealanders.”

Seymour said he was confident Bennett had the right leadership and decision-making skills for the role.

“Paula brings a wealth of experience to this role, with extensive experience in governance and organisational change.”

ACT secretly want to privatise Pharmac the way all far right acolytes want to privatise the common good. As a young libertarian, David Seymour on a radical far right economic youth camp once sang a song to Milton Friedman thanking him for privatising public education.

I’m not kidding…

…so Paula is their free market real estate pimp stormtrooper who shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near public health.

Here she was recently attacking State Tenants (again)…

Kāinga Ora tenants who don’t deserve state homes should be evicted – Paula Bennett

It is all about your rights instead of acknowledging that you also have responsibilities.

It may be a small percentage of Kāinga Ora tenants that are making other people’s lives hell but those that are should be dealt with swiftly and in the best interest of others.

It is obvious that they should be evicted for the safety of neighbours but they should also be evicted because they don’t respect the property and there are plenty of others who will.

…Paula’s legacy is one of political puppetry and malice.

Her draconian attacks on welfare recipients was only possible because she herself had been a solo mother.

Paula was the ultimate political poacher turned game keeper.

She could push welfare eugenics because she could always cite her own experience as some sort of justification.

She released personal information to shame beneficiary critics and put into place a sanction regime that saw thousands go hungry.

Her most shameful moment in politics was her championing of throwing state tenants out onto the street for meth contamination in state housing.

Ignoring the scientific evidence and refusing to implement Housing NZs own policy. Paula sought headlines attacking state tenants whose houses tested positive, and enabled the needless spending of $120million to decontaminate houses that didn’t pose a health risk.

She threw thousands of beneficiaries onto the streets in the middle of a housing crisis.

Her ruthlessness masquerading as ‘I know best’ damaged NZs poor, she didn’t alleviate it.

After the enormous damage she has caused State Tenants, where the Christ does this sanctimonious hypocrite get off joyfully wanting more state tenants thrown onto the street.

So she’s now running public health.

Yay.

As for the extra Phamac funding that David Seymour announced…

...they are barely funding extra medicine, most of it is keeping up with existing costs!

Paula Bennett is the last person who should be anywhere near public health.

  1. Who do I have to sleep with to get a highly paid position like this? Hell if Paula can do it( over a very long period of time) surely I can.

      • Given my leadership roles in the past, it’s clear your gutter, shallow posts hold no significance. Your clear lack of intellect is on display for all.

          • I would have had to have looked down the dole queues to have found and employed you Im tighty righty.

  2. Good appointment!
Targets reimposed and can be tracked to see how each area is performing.

With no targets, nothing can be tracked or measured, just how Labour love it.

Watch the health sector flourish with good results/outcomes now.

Remind me again the ER wait times and Dr referral stats at the start/end of Labours 6yrs??…..ohh that’s right you can’t!

    • You fucking idiot. National outsource to the private sector to reduce wait times. That’s at your expense.

Remind me again why National governments erode our health systems when everytime they get in they cut health budgets and infrastructure costs?…oh that’s right you can’t!

    • I’m right “ … actually children move in and out of poverty… on a weekly basis.” If you think that this sort of horrendous – and nonsensical- statement is acceptable from any politician, you’re wrong.

If you think that children, or the social community at large, benefit from this type of instability, you’re wrong again. If you think that poverty-challenged persons were being tracked by Paula and co on a weekly basis, you’re as hopeless as a nutter trying to catch a tiger by the tail, IMO.

That this woman even blithely admitted to weekly poverty, is a bigger indictment of her government than either she or you may ever realise.

      • Snow White, I care not about ‘weekly’ povedy, St Jacinda fixed it all…didn’t she? as it was the reason she entered politics she said, made herself ‘in charge’ of reducing child poverdy….did a terrible job.
Got rid of the child commissioner too!

        • “I care not about weekly poverty ”

Says it all really, the righties political slogan.

          • What about St Jacinda’s promise to tackle child poverdy Squeaky?
Did fuck all, made it worse…so why bother hand wring about ‘weekly poverty’ when your beloved leader did fuck all in 5+ years!?!
Or is it just a problem now that Labour got kicked out, just noticing it now….those blinkers you wear are great for your tunnel vision it seems.
Perhaps as a team leader (snigger) you can let your team know about the downside of broken promises from last 6 years and how it leads to failure.

            • Were you rejected at birth Im tighty righty?
I’d like to give you my background into my leadership roles but the technical aspects of such roles can only be comprehended by 13 year olds and older( snigger)
The 9 years of failure by Key in closing the wage gap with Australia, building education and health infrastructure and promoting a low wage economy I can confirm meant it was nigh on impossible to correct that carnage in 6 years. You’ll understand that if you manage to make NZA level one.(snigger)And now that carnage is being repeated as the polls are indicating.

              • Haahaaa ‘technical aspects’, you mean which detergent to put into the mop bucket for different floor surfaces….ohhh impressive.
I’m sure your team must be awestruck with your leadership.
Now wake up Squeaky, it’s all a dream, now go and find a job so your mum can get you out of her house.

                • Tighty righty I knew you would struggle with my intellect, if I was employed in a mop and bucket role I’d be employed full-time mopping up the bullshit you espouse.

    • You are such a knob. No targets is hardly unique to one major party. Who are you kidding. Even when they have targets they just highlight how under funded things are. They had Cancer targets under Keys administration. Gee that worked. No wonder Key sidestepped others.

  3. What she did to Hurimoana Dennis, kaumatua at Te Puema marae, was disgraceful. There was no good reason for it. Here was a man with a successful hands-on programme of feeding the hungry, providing homes for the homeless, and helping the unemployed into jobs, and doing what she was seemingly unable to. She publicly shafted him. She then seemingly tried to blame one of her lackeys, but nobody, she or some other deplorable, should have swimming in the sewers.

Broken the confidentiality of WINZ clients and said she’d do so again. Her apparent lack of professionalism makes her unsuitable to lead any significant body, IMO.

    • Some more detail about this enchanted being.
      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paula_Bennett
…Bennett faced criticism in enacting welfare reform during her first and second terms in government, especially around her previous use of government support programs. Scrutiny came from both members of parliament and from people on government incomes. In particular, the Training Incentive Allowance (TIA) was abolished under her leadership, after she had received this allowance herself as a student,[16] and the requirement for single parents in receipt of the domestic purposes benefit was changed, with beneficiaries having to look for part-time work when their child turned six instead of eighteen.[17] Bennett had her first child at 17 and was at times on a domestic purposes benefit. In response to criticisms, Bennett said that times were different 25 years later, and that beneficiaries get more (in 2012) than they did when she was in similar need.[18]

She is an example of a successful Maori woman to follow, according to many. The ones who are eaten up by materialism.

Did Paula find fault with these? What did she put in place instead?

  4. The ace ladder puller & Bennie basher trained by yank Paula Rebstock, ex party girl who threatened lawyers immediately when some of her old Taupo drinking buddies were going to spill the beans. An instinctive dobber–as Snow White points out above. Just who the country does not need in charge of sensitive health and medication issues.

  5. I guess appointing Paula fits with Seymour’s desire to make dying as easy as possible? Someone will be in for a good payday however the country’s health system will suffer.

    • Wrong again Bonnie. Seymour’s desire, IMO, is to make New Zealand a third-world country run by ACT, and he’s on track. Hungry kids, bureaucrats diagnosing childhood ailments, homelessness due to fecklessness, underpaid police being driven out of the country, welfare recipient stasi, and this horrible female in charge of Pharmac.

Did you know that lots of the folk depending on good Pharmac outcomes are quite frail people ? People with disabilities; children already experiencing third-world illnesses; others going quietly, or otherwise, mad, not necessarily through any fault of their own; people without much money and no work or insurance schemes to see them through hard times ?

Doubtless some of the Pharmac board will be professionally qualified people. They deserve better than Bennett, but more importantly so does this country. How we treat our most vulnerable people is a reasonable indication of our values, and Seymour’s values, IMO, are running on a bigger deficit than
the national debt which this lot blame for their own sociopathic shortcomings, IMO.

  6. A song to sing to Paula Bennett – ‘Honesty’ by Billy Joel.
Here it is with heartfelt and damning words.

For all we know the dancing and acting in the next clip is what goes on in National Party government serious decision meetings – The Aggie Song scene 5/10! After that stop when you find it distasteful. But you have to be fit for prancing like that, and it seems that Gnashional pollies at ‘leadership’ and ‘management’ level are fit for nothing and that includes women trying to better men at their job.

if you do not do something such as going on the street and telling your government which is controlled by the Jews to stop killing the Gaza people and stop the Israeli War and send food to the starving people of Gaza. If you can not do it then forward this message with the above two links to at least 4 of your friends and ask them to forward it to 4 of their friends so that the world will know that the new mass murderers are the Jews of the world . It is ironic that the Holocaust servicers (the Jews) are creating a new Holocaust against the Philistines in Gaza.

if you do not do this also then you do not have a HART

  8. David Seymour has seriously underestimated the severe dislike of this awful woman. He’s been much too clever for his own good this time. This is obvious cronyism of the absolute kind as people are actually relying on this terrible woman to keep them alive. This appointment is the biggest mistake of Seymour’s political career and he will live to regret it

    • I beg to differ. Seymour has his own handy scapegoat to blame when the inevitable occurs. What’s more, solid, sound, experienced health professionals may well demur at the thought of functioning under this awful woman, resulting in low calibre flunkies replacing them.
