The Great Fast Tracking Scam being pulled by Dr Pork and Chris Checkmate Bishop (As climate melts, Shane Jones allows more coal mining)

TDB warned you that the millisecond this hard right racist climate denying beneficiary bashing Government got into power they would immediately move to give their donor mates and the mining industry whatever they wanted.

That is exactly what is happening…

Government to make it easier to set up, expand coal mines despite climate targets

A big shake-up for the coal industry is on the cards, with the Government announcing plans to make it easier to get resource consents for the setting up or expansion of mines.

The Coalition said it will also scrap the no-mine-expansion deadline of 2030 set up by the previous Government.

The burning of coal stands out as the biggest source of greenhouse gas emissions driving climate change. Transitioning countries away from coal is deemed crucial in meeting worldwide climate objectives.

…Bishop was forced to release the list of those wanting to circumvent environmental due process and not is the usual Mining interests, climate change polluters and the vested interests of corporate Iwi lining up to abuse our environment for their profit margins…

RMA reform minister Chris Bishop bowed to public pressure to release a list of organisations he had approached about applying to have consents fast-tracked under the new regime.

The decision came after weeks of scrutiny over just who had been asked to consider applying to have consents fast-tracked, with environmental groups in particular concerned the Government is not adequately factoring in their concerns.

The list includes the iwi, and other entities from the Māori economy, developers, the seafood industry, primary industries, local councils, even the trust that administers Eden Park.

…we like to romanticise Māori capitalism when the truth is that it is as venal as Pakeha Capitalism!

There are few politicians who have the reek of crony capitalism upon them quite like Dr Pork, Shane Jones, and Bishop is tobacco pimp.

We face a climate change future demanding immediate adaptation when the polluters still hold power over the political system.

No wonder so many NZers are angry with the current system and see it rigged for the rich – BECAUSE IT IS!

Remember, we are literally taking out of the mouths of hungry children so National/ACT/NZF can give $2.9billion in tax breaks to the richest landlords, a policy MSD warns will see up to 13 000 children pushed into poverty…

Officials warn up to 13,000 children will be pushed into poverty as a result of benefit changes

…any time your policy is pushing 13000 children into poverty, you should probs not be implementing it!

Social policy should lift children out of poverty, not push 13000 into it!

This hard right racist climate denying beneficiary bashing Government has attacked renters, workers, Māori, Beneficiaries, the disabled and the environment while abusing democratic due process and cutting deals for their donor class.

We have been tricked into culture wars so that the richest continue to enrich their interests at the cost of everyone else.

Shane and Bishop have the kind of ethics that would make your average drug cartel blush, allowing politicians like them gain fast track powers for their donor industries interests is as irresponsible as allowing an alcoholic to run a pub.

The Political Right used your Covid bitterness to manipulate you and are now ramming their donors interests down your throat while pretending it’s ‘freedom’.

Well done Kiwis. Your ability to get tricked is almost legendary.

    • Sigh… Nathan the coal we import from the likes of Indonesia is thermal coal, primarily for electricity production. As far as I can tell all the companies that have been invited to use the fast track process will be producing coking coal which is pretty much exclusively exported. Two different products. The new mines will not have an impact on the amount of coal we need to import.

        • Nathan – sigh. By allowing, not only coal mining to continue, but to expand production and create new, larger mines, will allow the market to be flooded with coal and perpetuate industry using coal as the price will be cheaper than the required transition to more efficient infrastructure or electricity. A hard line of no new mines will set a date by which investment in that transition must happen. Also, while you say it is “wiser” than importing coal from overseas, you need to remember we have the ability to move AWAY from coal powered infrastructure. But also, at what cost to OUR environment. Already there are big chiller containers on the west coast SI where the last survivors of a particular snail species are being maintained(at great cost to the taxpayer) because the only place they existed was where there is now a coal mine. What else do we lose? How much more legacy of pollution do we want to leave for future generations when we have a clear alternative to coal?

  1. we can mine all the coal in NZ but can never sell it because we are too small to compete as we found last time we went crazy and invested millions in coal mining and then they all went broke because they could not sell it .We need to look for other stuff to sell instead of cheap commodities which shows how aspirational this government is not .Look at how much wood we are not selling at the moment and what we are selling is worthless except when we want some to build a house .

    • Has anyone thought about miners in all this fast tracking of mines, where are they going to come from, have we any miners left in NZ. I wonder if they will fast track immigration for miners from overseas, if they do it makes a mockery of the whole thing . Well the whole thing is a dangerous mockery anyway in the hands of the executive at the beck and call of the lobbyists what can possibly go wrong. Bishop,Jones and Brown hang your heads in shame .

      • There will be plenty of people in NZ who will risk there lives in unregulated mines for $60,000 a year. Most will do it so they can get their cleanskin certs and then bugger off to Oz to earn A$120,000 a year. The reality however is that this government will privatise the mines if not outright sell them to mining interests like Adani who will import their own workers from India.

  2. Throughout the world burning coal has saved lives by being used to create electronic items. Not all countries are able to use green sources to create power and even here in NZ greenies protest and try to stop dams . Smoke stacks are being improved all the time to eliminate many of the dangerous byproducts of burning coal.
I would add I do not trust Shane Jones to make the decisions so I hope the other 2 are wide awake to his deals .

    • ‘…. wide awake to his deals’
The monsters you voted for to be NZ government do not care about you and me, Trevor. They’re in it for themselves and their wealthy mates and that’s who they’re wide awake to.
I’m astounded at your incredible naivety.

  3. We have to stop importing BAD coal. Dr Pork want s to mine good coal and provide people in the province s a high wage and tell them not to go to Aus to mine for Elbo. A noble aim.

  4. ” No wonder so many NZers are angry with the current system and see it rigged for the rich – BECAUSE IT IS ”

Bomber do you think that only Labour \ Green can save us and deliver us a truly representative non class agenda and policy or is it really time for a new grassroots movement that appeals directly to the people who currently have no hope , are disillusioned and not represented by the parties who sit in parliament and continue to wage war on our environment , democracy and our right to protection and a decent life for all of us and our whanau ?

IMHO life is deteriorating for many of us and is becoming harsher as our rights just keep being signed away.

In two and a half years or less we will again be asked to vote in a parliament and government that simply will carry on as usual. We can’t continue on this path of failure. Sooner or later the anger will become a real problem if the many of us continue to be ignored and sold out.

  5. There are cheap and abundant drones now.

If MPs and their corrupters keep on the way they have, they’ll start dying.

  6. The PORKER has wasted his education and now at this late stage in life is trying to make up for the waste of money that paid for his Havard education .What has he given the IWI or NZ in return .NZ first has only ever had one good representative and that was RON MARK who got on and did the job with little or no fanfare and is still doing the job as mayor of where ever he now is .
Pitty this trougher cant do the same instead of being a show pony and continually shooting his mouth off

  7. Miners, kiwi, yes some are still kicking, any Union, affiliation from past, their gone. So lets do a Pike, import those that understand coal, although, our volatile volcanic coal mines, as Pike was, so that is still serious unresolved, why, outside the horror of its blast and outcome, only sample of its projected yield, was presented to future investors and market, mainly China, yet not one yield was never produced, hence the bonuses to the workers to produce their bosses, market promise.
So, the porker, his cocky wanker thoughts, we will import those miners, from lets get real, Asia, and those with authority, elsewhere in the euro or eastern market. And the Pike, what capitalist cover, you fucked up Kiwi!s, open your eyes, at the devious lies these corporations feed yous!s.
Pike, never forgot and never will, for those caring.
