The Humpty Dumpty Prime Minister

Ummmmmm, Luxon dumping two useless Cabinet Ministers to look tough in the face of Winston and Seymour bullying him isn’t the flex the Right Wing media seem to think it is…

Claire Trevett (Herald): Prime Minister Christopher Luxon’s reshuffle of Melissa Lee, Penny Simmonds should keep all ministers on their toes
Ben Thomas (The Post): Luxon unleashes the corporate drone strike (paywalled)
Heather du Plessis-Allan (Newstalk): NZ deserves Luxon’s style of performance management

The NZ Herald whenever National do the most basic level of governance

The Democracy Project takes the spin hook line and sinker.

The Right Wing Mainstream Media Trolls are trying to sell this as a moment of Corporate Strength by CEO Luxon, the tough man, the action figure, the strong leader.

The truth is more like this…

..Luxon dumped Melissa and Penny because in just 6 months internal polling is so dire they need a circuit breaker.

This decision isn’t from a. place of strength, it’s from a place of weakness!

Luxon is the weakest PM we’ve ever had and week in and week out either Seymour or Winston is bullying him in public!

Sometimes they are both doing it in the same week.

Pretending his axing of 2 useless Ministers is strength, is ridiculous!

If he is so tough, have Casey Costello sacked for misleading Cabinet on behalf of the Tobacco Industry!

Luxon is weak and it is only a matter of time before the numbers are being taken to roll him.

  1. “Luxon is weak and it is only a matter of time before the numbers are being taken to roll him.”

Shhhhhhhh! For Christ’s sake – we want them to know?

  2. HDA spits out the usual rubbish and Claire T should correct her headline to “keep National Ministers on their toes”. The ACT and NZ First ones can do whatever they like and Luxon won’t have them removed.

  3. At least Luxon showed he is a leader not afraid to move on poor performance. If Jacinda and Hipkins had moved sooner on their poorly performing ministers the result at the election may have been different.

    • Come on Trevor this is bull s**t and even you know it. If this is the case why is Costello still there ,why is Jones still there. We all know Seymour is saying what he likes and Winston is like a pig in s**t enjoying his power traveling the world. Even the gun woman has lied about figures. Why the sorry letters have we a government or Luxon’s cult.

    • Hey Trev, carry on your crusade.
I am heartened by the fact that Luxon cannot find a person in his large number of MPs with the capability to replace Lee and Simmons outside of the 14 he has in cabinet already.
Doesn’t really say much for the depth of Nats does it.
Why am I heartened? Because people will start to see what a useless lot they voted for and will begin to look Closely at the alternatives and will see lunatics from NZ First and Act and realise that the lefties may not be so bad after all.
However I won’t hold my breath as when the shit hits the fan we will see the 6 and 8 percenters fully funded by the rich sector and backed via NZME to allow them to tilt our so called democracy in their favour.
Started already with NZME paywalling anything unfavorable to Coalition of Chaos eg Shane Jones getting $55k from quarry company and inviting them to be on the fast track list.
The then make the favourable reports freely available. eg favourable decision from the high court for Chhour.

    • Less than two weeks ago, there wasn’t an issue with Lees performance according to Luxon. The challenges facing media certainly didn’t change in the last wee while so what changed for Lee? She’s kept her other work, after supposedly performing poorly in an area she’s worked in extensively in a private capacity.

      • Fabulous Prime Minister is our Mr.Luxon a welcome change to the 6 years when we didn’t have one.
Progress is now guaranteed for all New Zealanders.

    • Clusterfuxson is living up to his name.

He is someone who is going to blame everyone but himself….this has been well signalled.

He talks up a big game, but the rhetoric clearly does not match the performance.

It was Luxon who chose his cabinet and his poor understanding of the depth and complexities of issues within a given portfolio are now exposed for all to see.

His selection of the 2, now fired, cabinet ministers were clearly a case of poor judgement and mismanagement and ignorance

He finished his press conference by saying that this is the way he ‘rolls’ and to expect more of this.

Well, he got that bit right…

  4. Twyford….the name lefties should be thinking of when they see Luxon demoting 2 ministers out of their depth a few months into their roles.
Twyford….2 portfolios fucked up, kept on as minister of them too long.
    See the difference?
If any lefties have any comments about Luxon being wrong here just think about something before you type:
    Twyford….Twyford…Twyford

  5. It’s a shame Luxon cannot dismiss the really dangerous people who are running the govt. rather than a couple of useless ministers who have always been out of their depth, but unthinking idiots voted for them.
    This shows Luxon’s weakness.
We have dictatorial people from ACT and NZF who do NOT represent the majority of NZders, causing heaps of damage, who cannot be got rid of because Luxon doesn’t know how.
If he imagines this shows he’s good leader, he’s dreaming. This emphasizes his weakness.

  6. Yeah it’s complete bullshit “this is how I roll” what a hardman, more like what a complete dick. How any journo worth their name could not see through these lame demotions is a joke, as you correctly point out. Now if he had rolled Casey Costello, that may have actually been a show of strength and maybe a glimpse of moral backbone. But let’s not forget his sister in law works for the Tabacco industry. Just saying. To be clear. He really doesn’t give a fuck. I just hope you are right in saying he’ll be the one to be ‘ rolled’ before long because he’s so weak. I wonder…it might suit him to look weak and let the others do the dirty work.

  7. ” Luxon is weak and it is only a matter of time before the numbers are being taken to roll him. ”

If that is true then will Winston pull the plug as he did when Shipley and the right wing knifed Bolger in 1998 ?

And will Jones follow him ?

  8. Prime Minister Luxon is proving to be an excellent leader something New Zealand didn’t have during 6 years of Labour Government.

  9. Surely they’ve been given two verbal warnings, three written and offered counseling along with mediation and two weeks stress leave followed by a substantial settlement all for being useless.
Wish it was that easy in the real world.

  10. Luckless Lux, stuck in the paddock, gears grinding, goin! nowhere. THIS IS HOW WE ROLL, a role of one of two churches both and all others fundamentalist American.
