More people are being squashed into a job market that doesn’t exist, more migrants are moving to NZ and our unemployment rate has jumped from 5.4% to 5.7%.
NZers believe that Key and National are amazing mangers of the economy.
They aren’t.
They’re great at cutting deals for rich corporate mates and building tax havens, they are crap at managing the economy for the good of society. Unfortunately too many NZers rely on the over inflated property portfolios he has built to challenge what National are doing to the social fabric of this society.

The not so wealthy immigrants, including students to come here to study, but who may know little English (bizarre that), they come here to work, as the rest of the world is reaching its growth limits.
The better off, wealth and savings possessing immigrants and returning migrants, they come here, to perhaps work, to otherwise perhaps do some business, they certainly like to own a house here, so they want to buy one.
Key and Nats love this, it keeps the economy “growing”, hooray, we have growth, is the message, but the reality is, there is only so much “growth” a small country like Niu Zilliland can handle.
So come the challenges and problems, oh, unemployment has gone up, why is this? Well, if you have more migrants than jobs that exist, or can be “created” any time soon, that is exactly what happens. And this high labour participation rate over 60 or even 65 percent, much higher than Australia and most of Europe, that is not so much a result of so many keen to join the labour market.
Redesigning the welfare system, forcing sole parents to look for jobs when the youngest child is barely three years old, and forcing sick and disabled off benefits, that means, they have to survive somehow. If they cannot find a job, which some will try and do, they end up on benefits. That is unemployment benefits. There comes the figures, the stats and massive churn.
No surprise to me, I followed this for years. Those that may find whatever job, as they cannot get any benefit support or are too young or poor to survive on a pension, they have no choice, get whatever crap job there is, even for just one hour a week.
This leaves the ones that find nothing, that cannot work, so they are back on the dole, hence the figures we have.
This calculation does NOT even include the many thousands that are neither here nor there, that are couch surfing with friends and family, living from family and other support, or that go to food banks, and who may somehow survive in the parks and garages here and there, not on benefits, not in education, not in training and not in work.This may even include many migrants, who disappear from the stats, as they may stay, but are not seen.
Add the students that are not really students, as they came to simply try and get a foot into the door, out of desperation, to get work and stay here, that is the overseas ones.
We have a developing social and economic catastrophy coming upon us, sadly the middle class do not yet notice it, they are disconnected and live in their gated communities and leafy suburbs, keeping the beggars out.
Wait, shit will hit the fan soon, it is already starting to splatter around here and there, it smells real bad and dangerous.

When their kids need a PhD to flip burgers or do the night shift at the local petrol station, they’ll notice it.
It’s already starting to come on-stream: people with good grades in their degree unable to find employment with enough pay to clear their student shackles.
