Why over egging ‘Russian collusion’ has helped Trump and damaged media credibility
It’s funny watching pundits in America & NZ who have been screaming Russian collusion for 2 years desperately trying to justify how wrong they were now Muellers report is out.
CNN, MSNBC, The Washington Post and the New York Times have all suffered an enormous blow to their credibility. They have spent years screaming ‘Russian Collusion’ and now there is no evidence, they have empowered this tangerine fascist.
The truth is Trump was too dumb to collude with anyone & the Russia diversion alleviated Democrats fault for fielding a terrible candidate.
The truth is that blaming Russia for ‘hacking’ the US Election is deeply counter productive.
Firstly, it’s just outrageous that the Americans who have committed coups, electoral fraud and mass deceptions on 81 other nations over the years are in any position to lecture or complain about interfering in other peoples elections.
Secondly, it allowed the Democrats off the hook. Instead of acknowledging they ran a terrible candidate and fielded neoliberal policies that hurt the very workers they had simply assumed would vote for them, the Democrats avoided scrutiny of their own rigged primary process, the manner in which Bernie Sanders was unfairly treated and their own hollow policies.
Newsflash to the Democrats – Trump didn’t win because of Russia, he won because you failed to appreciate how your embrace of neoliberal globalisation hurt the very voters you needed the most!
One estimate puts the budget of Russian interference in the election via social media advertising at $250 000. With all due respect for American Democracy, if you can influence an election with a mere $250 000, you have way bigger problems than Putin.
We can scream racist and sexist as much as we like at Trump voters, but when Trump wooed Union families, women and the working poor in such huge numbers, something else needs to be examined as the reason this malignant tumour of a human being has been forced upon us all.
The free market globalisation that the Democrats embraced has robbed the domestic working classes of their dignity and economic ability to survive. Bernie Sanders understood this which is why he would have been able to woo those voters Trump needed back to the Democrats and beat Trump, but the vile corruption within the Democrats (who played to the elites within the Party) robbed Sanders of his nomination in a rigged system set up to prevent a populist left winger ever winning the candidacy.
By putting the Identity Politics of being the first Woman to win the Presidency over the economic needs of the poor, the Democrats handed the election to a snake oil merchant like Trump.
By blaming Russia and promising a conviction of collusion, the mainstream media have given proof to Trumps ‘fake news’ narrative. The impact of this may give our carrot coloured maniac another 4 years.

Blaming the “other” rather than looking hard in the mirror, is classic avoidance strategy. Russia was always a long shot and an error. It is weird though seeing the buck stop at Orange Man’s underlings and hangers on in regards of who is, and who is about to do jail time!
The Democrats did it to themselves unfortunately, and the way back is to adopt Bernie’s programme whoever the candidate is. Sweet justice would see Bernie and a next gen VP stick it to Trump, but there is a long way to go till 2020.
The US media and liberals obviously do not want to adopt a class perspective, but the working/middle class voters need to more than ever.Trump has unbelievably transferred trillions already to the parasite 1%ers, and is well on the way to slicing further billions off health and what passes for US welfare.
The Mueller Report has to be released in full though. As Mr Sanders said at his San Fran rally 24 March; “Well, I don’t want a summary of the report. I want the whole damn report, because nobody, especially this president, is above the law.”

The left in the US doesn’t take seriously CNN, MSNBC, The Washington Post and the New York Times. It has hurt more the corporate Democrats and media outlets that are perceived as being left when they aren’t. But it does embolden the right.
The real problem in the US is the same one we have in NZ. Control by two large parties who in my opinion look and behave much alike.
Even MMP has done less than I had hoped in changing that scenario. Not helped at all by an MSM in both nations who, in my experience, only infrequently step away from the mainstream narrative.

I’d agree that its looking like 2020 will be all Trump. Beyond the failure of finding or getting anything to stick, the US economy has continued to improve despite the doom & gloom warnings, tariffs and trade wars. The unemployment rate is now 3.8%, near the lowest in 50 years. The employment rate is up, wages are up, sentiment is up, and business investment is up. Meanwhile the Democrats are eating themselves.
