A storm hit New Zealand every eight days on average in the last year, causing claims to the country’s largest insurer to more than triple.
IAG’s Wild Weather Tracker showed there were 46 storms between March 2025 and the end of February this year.

Sobering and scary as climate issues have arrived faster than anticipated. All are in for really tough times with insurance premiums going through the roof- that’s if it’s still in tact! So what is this lack-lustre CoC’s plan? To bring in LNG, more mining, more money for tobacco and the greedy landlords? Do they have plans for energy to be fueled by solar, wind and water? With the correct leadership we can do better, so how about we stop the moronic denials, join together and make NZ a better, safer and fairer place? It just needs all of us on board pulling together. What a mess we have left for our country’s children. Shame on us!
What you describe sounds a lot like “men’s hearts failing them for fear”. Like you say who really knows what people will do in that situation although you can be sure that grifters will arise to share their version of events and deceive others.
