  1. That sheep looks brighter and more intelligent than most of us! And John Clarke poking his sly digs, had to go to Oz because he became swamped by Kiwis who could recognise his talents and wit and everything. Clarke and Dawe then made a splendid job of sending up Australians and so we are lucky that you are still here Martyn!
The front is falling off our country – help what should we do? Senator and reporter discuss this

  2. It is not talked about because both sidescof the political spectrum go along with the system as it is . Look how easy it was for Jacinda to close us down numerous times and using the army to enforce control and the same draconian forces have been used by Muldoon and other National leaders.
The facts are most of us lawabiding citizens thinks it makes us saver so we go along with the rules and let others fight back

    1. Well don’t go along with the rules because they are there Trevor. You are always here and concerned, so put your mind to better rules and understand why we need them instead of taking the easy way and bleating about Jacinda for instance. We are small but we are a country and need to take the wider view than from the backyard.

Also put your back into keeping your regional councils and local ones and see if yiu can get them run by citizens who put founding money into local trusts that buy up local businesses and strategic food and water resources and have a shareholding that can never be sold out. Retired people like yourself can serve as watchdogs and encouragers of local business and young business people, and do much of the ‘paper’ work for honorariums that won’t affect their pension. Now that’s a mouthful, so chew on that for an idea.

Get more democracy by doing it ourselves instead of theory-trained proficients =- they are good at doing the theory, but we are good at living the practice. Let the livers in and maybe we can find citizen ways to cope with traffic, unreasonable prices for everything, and bring it all down to a human level of cost and enjoyment. Home sweet home is now bitter, why should it be? Work it out Trevor.

  3. Big Brother is watching your every move with more and more cameras and a total invasion of our privacy. It’s clear the powers that be don’t give one hoot so long as they are totally in control. And it’s taken only two years to get to this – that’s the scary bit. Time our pathetic voters recognised the danger and our biased media highlighted the risks. It can’t be permitted to go on, or even God forbid, get any worse. Please voters, think about the future, not your wealth/power or your selfish selves but the future of your progenies and country. It’s not too late to begin again.

    1. When I read 1984 many moons ago, the idea of Big Brother being able to listen in on everyone in the park, not just surveillance targets, seemed a bit far-fetched and here we are voluntarily taking the tracking device with us everywhere.

  4. Not voluntarily. Where were the Greens in this issue? TPM? If they still exist. Don’t forget about the supermarket facial recognition tech that they now have even tho the privacy commission was apparently ‘concerned’ about it.
