🔁 Winston’s Senior Moment or Policy Meltdown? Less than 48 hours after voting for the Regulatory Standards Bill — New Zealand First leader Winston Peters now says he’ll repeal it. On the third reading, NZ First MP Casey Costello said there was “no hesitation” in backing it. Two days and one online backlash later? Full hesitation. Why spend millions passing libertarian nonsense if Winston didn’t believe in it? Is he just putting his car keys in the fridge now?
🎣 Shane Jones Declares War on Recreational Fishermen: Jonesy — Minister for Always-On-The-Verge-Of-A-Bad-Metaphor — threatened recreational fishermen after they protested his decision to gift the Hauraki Gulf to commercial interests. These blokes love fishing so much they formed an association. In New Zealand, that’s a declaration of war. You’ve messed with the local militia, Jonesy — and they’ve got rods, boats, and baches. Best of luck, Chief.
🚬 Casey Costello: From Tobacco Lobbyist to Minister of Cancer: Under her watch, NZ has fallen from 2nd to 53rd in global tobacco control rankings. Her response? “Ridiculous and ludicrous.” Right — except she’s literally the reason we tanked. Big Tobacco funded her rise, she pushed $300 million in subsidies, and now she’s writing health policy. This isn’t ludicrous — it’s lethal. Cigarettes kill 67% of users. Putting her in charge of public health is like making Donald Trump a feminist theory lecturer.
Tobacco wins. Fishos lose. Winston forgets. It’s not news. It’s the War on News.
I want too ask if the wheels are falling off, BUT since they have already done so, then that would be a dumb question. I trust Winston’s backflip is genuine and not more propaganda and BS and if so, thx Winnie, since Seymour’s Regulatory Standards ‘Atlas’ Bill is a “shocker” and needs to be quashed. As for Jones, he’s not a ‘real politician’, he’s simply an agitator with verbal diarrhea, who loves to hear his own voice – over and over again. Then we have Costello and it’s hard to fathom her true intentions, but I seriously doubt she has any. She lacks the necessary charisma or integrity and is just holding on! In fact she is a “non-event” and likely to stay that way. The Left would be wise to consider rejecting any deals with this ghastly threesome – they are way too toxic and come with a truck-load of ‘assorted baggage’.
