  1. Big problems coming for jails .An inside staff member tells me that they are not replacing staff who leave .Three members have left her team and they are not being replaced .She had a meeting with a manager from Wellington last week who could not do basic maths .There are 3 cell blocks per unit where she works .Each has 40 cells .Each cell has 2 prisoners .The manager said that equaled 120 prisoners so they did not need replacement staff or any extra staff .When the staff member pointed out that there are 240 prisoners in the unit the manager told her she was wrong there is only 120 cells so there can only be 120 prisoners .Once again the staff member pointed out there are two prisoners per cell so there must be 240 prisoners in total .Once again the manager said she was incorrect .
When we look at the minister in charge we can see the problem starts at the very top as he is as thick as pig shit .
On the minister he promised he would step down if we did not have 500 extra police by the end of last month .We have only 167 and they way the top brass are culling themselves we will have less than when he started .Will he keep his promise or will Luxon sweep him under the rug which has a massive mound of shit under it now there may not be room for him .

        1. The issue is Bob loves to fawn all over Luxon and anything right wing and therefore only believes in “alternative facts” and will only ever see things through a single blue lens. Actually, he has never provided facts to support his narrative and never will. The fact is Luxon, as pointed out by Martyn is happy to spend millions and millions on prisons, yet not prepared to spend the same amount on healthcare, nurses, doctors, teachers, police and firemen etc . There will always be crime and locking people up without rehabilitation will be akin to throwing money on a bonfire. That should worry the voting public of NZ.

          1. It would be funny if it wasn’t true but with your simple mind, I’m sure you are amused.

  2. Luxon’s, “Yep, good thing”! =“Yep is a very common alternative to yes, but is only used informally, among people you know well, and might be frowned upon in formal settings” – so like facing reporters and the nation? Dear me, how our standards have plummeted. Luxon seriously can’t comprehend that he has brought NZ to its knees and our country is “Stuffed”. Now I like that word =“the country is in a very bad situation, is in trouble, or is broken/ruined”! How can he be so blatantly racist and get away with it? I know – our pathetic RW media and sheeples.

  3. What’s that saying when you want to disagree with apparent facts; ‘I have better figures (or whatever the subject). It seems that the staffing is bound to the number of occupied cells. So put triple bunks into each cell, the staffing remains the same. The manager isn’t likely to spell that out as its irrational and obviously wrong and unviable for good practice, so it’s easier to just repeat the appropriate code adopted as explanation for staffing ratios.

  4. Great – ‘beat’ poetry>>>>>>
A nation of gauche hatreds and petty malice, ruddy faced with fury and confusion, wearing cow shit splattered slippers and banjo twanging cultural insulation.
We would gladly burn books if we had any idea where the library was.

Makes you want to spit but we have to keep the energy up as well as the reading; some ideas for a new action sport to build esprit de corps.

  5. The NZ Prison Industrial Complex continues to grow
By Martyn Bradbury -November 23, 2025

And Christopher Luxon is happy with that, this should be a worry for all of us.

The Prison Industrila Complex is a sword kept hanging above all our heads.

More than just dealing with the human wreckage from unchecked inhuman neoliberalism which increases inequality and trashes societery for the benefit of a wealthy elite.

This machinery of repression can be quickly repurposed.
In times of system wide crisis, the Prison industrial complex can and has served a more sinister purpose.

“….damaged men go into under resourced, corrupt and violent prisons and come out as monsters to commit worse crimes” Martyn Bradbury

Monstrous societies have a use of monsters.

In times of crisis, the prisoners are released often with a promise of pardons, in exchange for being recruited to be turned on the state’s enemies. The infrastructure of the prison industrial complex is not left standing idle, empty prisons are quickly repurposed to confine political prisoners and other perceived enemies of the state, often to the point of inhuman overcrowding. Over night, prison guards turn into human rights abusers, overcrowded prisons turn into concentration camps.

As long as that machinery exists that potential exists.

  6. Prison is no holiday camp unless you’re a gang member with form or just so unhinged that you’ll commit any type of violence to prove to other inmates that you’re not to be fucked with and then your holiday usually turns south because there always someone around the corner ready to take advantage of your complacency, It’s a tough and precarious lifestyle with a large number of mental health, among the prison population who are victimized again by inmates. It’s a sad affair
