  1. Wisconsin USA is a State that could be a prototype for us. Some things are too similar. Then I remembered a large dairy poisoning in the 1970s in Michigan. It was related to fire-retardant and it might be the same stuff we have recently been alerted to here. So I will give links and you can follow up if you are interested.

From The Guardian on the downturn in Wisconsin’s long-term major industry, dairy farming, milk production.

A recent report on Michigan’s poisoning in 1970s affecting its dairy herds; (I remember a farmer struggling to carry on, refused state financial support, and holding up one cow by tying its back legs together with string).

Nine million residents consumed contaminated meat and milk for a year after a Michigan chemical plant mistakenly added PBB (polybrominated biphenyl) – a toxic fire retardant – to dairy cattle feed, and distributed it to farms throughout the state.
Note: That two crusading journalists who tried to out this to the public had a hard time. They came to NZ to publicise the matter. Somewhere I will have their card which I considered was an icon. I try to remember important things.
