Trump Says U.S. ‘Shouldn’t Even Have an Election’ as He Threatens Insurrection Act

…..when you win the presidency, you don’t win the midterms,” Trump told Reuters in an interview published on Thursday. “When you think of it, we shouldn’t even have an election.”
The comments came on the heels of an interview the president gave to The New York Times, in which he repeatedly danced around a commitment to respecting the results of the midterms, claiming that he “always [respects] the results of elections, but the elections in our country are rigged.”…..
……White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt was asked on Thursday about Trump suggesting multiple times that the midterms should be canceled. She claimed Trump was just “speaking facetiously,” and “simply joking.”…….

We all thought Trump was joking when he told us that he was going to invade Venezuela, and take their oil and sell it. And we all thought he was joking when he said said hAmerica saide wh invade Greenland and take over Island..

    From RNZ
…..The United States has completed its first sale of Venezuelan oil, valued at US$500 million, according to an administration official.

  2. The tourism minister says she has a meeting planned with the mayor to discuss concerns about the Putāruru Blue Spring being trashed by tourists.
    https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/political/584213/leaders-to-meet-over-tourists-trashing-blue-spring
…Earlier this week, Waikato Regional Council chairperson Warren Maher shared his concerns about the site, which he said was being trashed by tourists clogging composting toilets with rubbish, throwing coins in the spring and parking dangerously on the roadside.
Tourism Minister Louise Upston told Morning Report she visited the spring on Thursday, and in general, she had witnessed sensible behaviour…

So she has to inspect it herself, the head shebang and the Council’s complaint is not sufficient to be believed and responded to. Government really seems to work on the Three Monkeys (lack-of-principle), supposed to be See, Hear, Speak, No Evil but it’s too hard for our government and administration to comply with themselves and they can’t imagine anybody else doing so.

    1. Further: 1 Tourists tossing coins in the stream. That isn’t good but is a practice of well-wishing done by worldwide travellers for probably centuries.
2 Composting toilets – the tourists think no doubt they can put food rubbish and compostable things down them. So not necessarily ‘trashing’. And further compostable toilets have to be managed carefully. You can’t expect tourists to be personally involved in running your waste system for you.
3 Parking – if you are gettiing tourists you need to provide for them, including parking.

So this is all part of NZAO properly managing an efficient country with modern requirements and being overloaded by visitors who will stretch our meagre offerings to the max just by numbers. But DOC does try – this is informative, should be read by all:

What are the drawbacks of a composting toilet?
Under heavy use a composting toilet will require daily maintenance to work properly. Otherwise, the compost may turn septic and emit horrendous odors both inside and outside the cabin. This is not only an expensive problem to fix, but it also will take the restroom out of service for extended periods.28 Feb 2014
