Todays gratitude – Shout out Monday to all of you New Zealand. We went fearfully into this lockdown not knowing what to expect with a level of social disruption unseen outside of war. Democracies rely on well informed citizens acting in solidarity for the common good, history was watching and we passed. Good one NZ.
Todays gratitude – Shout out Friday to Jacinda. She has navigated us through a terrorist attack, a volcanic eruption and this pandemic while taking a 20% pay cut. Her humour, her clarity and her empathy held our collective hands at a time of fear and uncertainty. She’s such a Boss!
Todays gratitude – Shout out Thursday to everyone who has shown kindness at this weird and scary time. To extend warmth when there is fear is worthy of our collective mana as a people.
Todays gratitude – Shout out Wednesday to the parents in shared care arrangements who haven’t been able to see their kids. It is a unique pain to be deprived your child when you want to protect them
Todays gratitude – Shout out Tuesday to all of us! Liberal progressive democracies like ours can only enforce its will via well informed citizens who act in good faith solidarity to collectively enforce the common good.
History is watching my dear fellow citizens and we have passed our first test with flying colours.

Todays gratitude – Shout out Friday to the Police who are trying to herd a nation of cats like NZ. They are building a level of trust with the community at a time when they have total power.
Todays gratitude – Shout out Thursday to the Uber Drivers who are still getting us from place to place despite putting themselves at risk. They are our lowest paid workers. Heroes one and all.
Todays gratitude – Shout out Wednesday to the those public servants who are tracing and tracking the sick. Without your focus this plague could keep building.
