Corrections NZ are hiding a surge in prison suicides – The Daily Blog’s Prisoner Rights Blogger and current inmate Arthur Taylor critiques the cover up.
I am reliably informed that the I.D.U. rate (positive drug test results) at SERCO Wiri is at least 25%….i.e. one quarter of the prisoners have tested positive for drug use
You will probably recall lifer Phillip Smith escaping to Brazil on 6.11.2014. That escape deeply embarassed Corrections senior management and their minister Sam Lotu – Iga.
Anne is in her fifties, a first offender and in jail for drugs. She has been up to the parole board three times and been turned down, because she “hasn’t done programs”.

You’ve all heard about the massive over representation of Maori in prisons, but you may not know the further you go into the Belly of the Beast the higher that representation gets.
It’s hard to believe isn’t it… CareNZ continues to take public funds to provide under-resourced programmes for Prisoners and continues to get rid of qualified, experienced Counsellors at the cost of thousands of taxpayers dollars.
