I was disappointed that the mass media largely bought the National Party’s spin on the Mt Roskill by-election. National said a loss would be catastrophic for Labour (and Andrew Little would be toast) but a loss for National wouldn’t mean a thing.
Let’s be honest about National’s recent poll rating that the mainstream media tried to use to strangle Little last week leading into the by election. The reason National are at 50% is because of a biased mainstream media and a property bubble that creates an illusion of wealth.
THE AGED DEFENDERS HEARD THE MOB before they saw it. The rhythmic chanting of “Die Boomers, Die!” and “Fee, Fi, Foe, Fum – we smell the blood of Boomer scum!” Moments later they were shielding their eyes from the sun-bright twinkle of a thousand smart-phone flashes. The Millennials were advancing up the road, taking selfies as they came.
Probably the most important revelation to be had from National’s drubbing is that the “Ethnic Strategy” which the Blue party has pursued for quite some time now … is rapidly reaching its limits.
Tonight’s remarkable landslide to Wood proves that Labour’s core message of infrastructure investment, affordable housing and empathy have more going for it than National’s vacant aspiration.
With just 12 months until the 2017 election, where are we at and where will we be going into the 2017 election?

My take on the matter is that it is racism, Institutional Racism that does not like the independent Māori doing well and being successful. Pākahā dominated institutions still want to apply Pākehā rules and tell Māori what to do and how to do it.
