NZDF Press Conference – not so much double speak as triple speak
Ok, so the NZDF have come out with their 5th version of events,
Ok, so the NZDF have come out with their 5th version of events,
…the simple truth is that John Key signed off on an SAS revenge attack that was woefully wrong in its intelligence and we have ended up killing and maiming 21 civilians, purposely destroying a dozen homes and we have handed over prisoners to known torture units and received back intelligence using that torture.
The Hit and Run authors say the defence force leadership is trying to confuse the public and government to reduce pressure for an independent inquiry into the revelations in the book.
I think TOP is worth paying attention to and here are my main reasons:
We should all feel a profound sense of shame.
Last week, two serious news events dominated our airwaves. The way these stories were disseminated tells us plenty about the way we, the New Zealand public, are fed propaganda.
The NZDF press release is simply incorrect and implausible. To be true, it would require an identical raid by identical forces, using identical helicopters, on identical targets at the same time.
The lack of outcry from the people of NZ to a war crime signed off by their precious John Key that killed and maimed 21 is one thing but the feral scream of Hager and Stephenson hate speaks to something far more damaged in the NZ psyche that can only be cauterised by global shaming.
What people are really saying when they attack Nicky and Jon is ‘shut up about our murder and maiming of innocents, we not only prefer to be ignorant, we prefer to not even have to be confronted by our abuses of power’.
We are a country with hollow jobs propped up by part time work.
Welcome to the Precariat.
