Wage inflation, of course, inevitably spirals directly into general inflation as one of the main costs for businesses is labour costs forcing them to raise the prices of whatever they’re selling. So paying people more achieves nothing even medium-term to address cost-of-living in a high-inflation environment; indeed it ultimately only throws fuel on the fire.
