I have never liked Peters. He was a more successful as a conman than Key but not quite as successful a bully as Muldoon. An accomplished professional liar.
I recall him, as Minister for Jiggery-pokery, telling the nation in 1997 that the Asian crisis -in which South Korea was utterly pummelled by the IMF- would not affect NZ.
It all goes to show how easily so many New Zealanders were conned into believing utter nonsense if that utter nonsense was delivered with authority.
