I have never liked Peters. He was a more successful as a conman than Key but not quite as successful a bully as Muldoon. An accomplished professional liar.
I recall him, as Minister for Jiggery-pokery, telling the nation in 1997 that the Asian crisis -in which South Korea was utterly pummelled by the IMF- would not affect NZ.
It all goes to show how easily so many New Zealanders were conned into believing utter nonsense if that utter nonsense was delivered with authority.
Sadly, large numbers of New Zealanders still believe in utter nonsense, but fortunately the utter nonsense delivered by Winnie.
