The beauty of social media is that it is unforgiving and we are all now unforgivable. Outage Olympics fuels resentment and the most dangerous part of identity politics is when white men become the victim.

‘Glorifying the Christchurch mosque shootings’: Teen keen to replicate mass killing in NZ
A man was found in possession of, and found to have distributed, the Christchurch mosque shooting video after leaving “alarming” threats with Youthline that he was going to “kill humans”.
Some of those “humans” who the then 19-year-old Nugi Reeves had threatened, were those who worked at Youthline, telling them he was “sick of killing animals and was going to kill humans”.
That would lead police to his house in June last year, where officers discovered two different videos from the 2019 shooting that claimed 51 lives.
Reeves appeared for sentencing in the Hamilton District Court today on four charges; two of possession of objectionable material, one of distributing that material, and another of threatening to kill Youthline staff.
The court heard, Reeves rang Youthline, a national helpline for youth, on June 3, last year, leaving them “alarming” messages.
He added he was interested in replicating a mass shooting in New Zealand and that he had access to guns.
The next day police searched his Hamilton home and found his cellphone that was used to send the messages. Officers seized his computer, along with a replica handgun and bullets.
An analysis of his hard drive revealed recordings; one of the 2019 Christchurch Mosque attack and a copy of the Anarchist Cookbook, both of which are classified as objectionable.

An Auckland academic says the attempted murder of two schoolgirls by a man who claimed he was lashing out because he’d never had a girlfriend is the biggest incident in Aotearoa’s extremist space since the New Lynn terror attack.
The drink driver, with previous fantasies of killing others, purposely swerved his vehicle to hit two schoolgirls at an Epsom bus stop — pinning the strangers against a brick wall.
Caleb Reilly Bell, 26, told police after the 50km/h pedestrian crash that his actions came over the perceived injustice of him never having a girlfriend and that others were happy when he was not.
University of Auckland senior lecturer Chris Wilson told the Herald it was significant because such attacks occur often overseas and it was the closest thing to an incel attack New Zealand had experienced.

An Auckland teen who, after years of isolation and online radicalisation, took steps to plan a local terrorist attack that he hoped would kill 20 to 30 non-Muslims has been sentenced to two years and five months’ imprisonment.
The North Shore resident, now 21, sat in the dock in the High Court at Auckland today nodding as Justice Rebecca Edwards declined his lawyers’ request for home detention at the conclusion of the lengthy name suppression and sentencing hearing.
The judge pointed out that journal entries obtained by the police indicated that on three occasions the defendant had left his house intending to carry out attacks, including a time when he brought a kitchen knife to a hockey game but lost his nerve after encountering people who were nice to him.
“It was the kindness of strangers that stopped you that day,” the judge said. “But … you were well down the track of acting on your plan.”

I fear we are now in a culture loop of violence that can not be broken thanks to social media.
Men feel alienated, the woke scream, men become more disengaged, internet porn robs intimacy, women start becoming far more picky in terms of earning power and educational level of potential partners, men blame women/society for their insecurities and personal failings, men commit terrible violence as their fuck you to a society that only cares about male pain when it explodes.

Back in 2017, TV producer Ashley Lyle read an article about a planned remake of the iconic novel Lord of the Flies, only with all girls instead. The idea was laughed at – females just weren’t capable of that kind of primal anger, it was argued.
Ashley told the NY Times that one of the most memorable pieces of criticism she heard was, “What are they going to do? Collaborate to death?” and her immediate thought was, “You were never a teenager girl, sir.” Well, that idea turned into Yellowjackets, the hit TV show where a group of teenage girls are stranded in the wilderness after a plane crash and slowly start fighting, killing and – it’s heavily implied – eating each other.
It became a hit with both viewers and critics, with season two arriving on Neon shortly. It is… not for the faint-hearted.
Soon, we will get a new version of this young female rage. The Power, a mini-series that will arrive on Amazon Prime Video on March 31, is the television adaption of the best-selling dystopian novel by writer Naomi Alderman. It is – quite literally – electrifying stuff, telling the story of how females worldwide suddenly develop a ‘skein’ that allows them to channel electricity, which ends up causing a total shift in global power. The gender roles of both power and fear are quickly reversed; suddenly it is men who travel in packs on their way home in the dark, who fear the strange woman in their midst.

Those who had ‘privilege’ won’t and those who gain ‘privilege’ will immediately use it for revenge.
It’s like the end of Game of thrones when everyone realises true equality is when the Mother of Dragons can butcher and destroy as well as any male.
My fear is some full blown Incel coward will commit a terrible atrocity against women and by then the desire to criminalise young men will be a crescendo.

Post reads a bit lopsided imo. Reads like a ‘poor me’ of lost virility. Young men and young women have ego issues that tend to mellow in time. We’re just not all popular or desirable – that’s just reality. There’s always going to be disturbed individuals. It is factual that men hold the overwhelming majority in violence statistics. Men could learn a lot about taming their egos from women. So there’s two sexes who experience life differently. Don’t make it a power division. I loved Yellow Jackets, with our very own Melanie Linskey. Great to see more women on screen in this genre. Get over this “poor men’ nonsense already. Life is hard for all of us.

Well yes they were actually, namely neo liberalism atomising the more collective working class into individual consumers–winners and losers–junk food has not been kind to many either.
Full time work became precarious and contract work, so a lot of these savage fantasists are on the bones of their proverbial or living with parents in their 30s when previously they would have been independent with self respect. Post modernist philosophy replaced materialist philosophy so now any thing can mean anything! Unions were busted so it was harder to defend previous working class achievements.
From my observation a lot of males operate on the three Bs–Banter, Bravado and Bullying–which apart from my staunch political mates and is why I generally prefer female company.
Sure the joker in the pack from the mid 00s has been social media, anyone that can navigate a screen can be abused and has platforms to abuse others.
As many old feminists would agree, this is a subject that needs discussing, and hopefully stopping the fire before it burns out our cultural structures capable of improvement and replaces them with mere ashes. Women wanting better treatment from society have not been served by strident, autocratic, middle class professionals often (or influenced by their teachings) pervading and oppressing all women not sharing their views.

Mr. Reeves is probably not a fun guy I would want to hang up with, his phone pranks lack the real humour that comes from doing them with friends, and he did have material like the mosque shooting video that is genuinely objectionable (though really no worse than say Leon Uris’s ‘Exodus’ or the newsletters Juliet Moses puts out). Don’t forget that generally women bring up the males in society who if they were in a caring loving healthy minded family will be able to find a woman that fits their interests and culture, feelings and ambitions. But if mothers are forced out to work when they need to be home to nurture their youngsters, from toddler to young adult (25 years for maturity still prevails), then th children have less chance to be socialised and won’t be good consumers if that is all the bloody drivers in charge of society care about. Mothers also need to be socialised by doing a bit of work in the community or part-time job, so they are good role models and have self-respect. Boys won’t get respect for women seeing their mothers being bashed or sworn at, or if they allow or encourage it.
I think that helping kids learn about their own mentality, understand and respect themselves, and then do so with others as part of school curriculum is more important than a lot of what they are taught. Discussions about things that are happening in the world and learning how their minds can be played around with by the internet and television particularly, rather than films, ais important. The state having family camps when parents both have to be involved, with a monetary reward of child allowance to bring in the ones only reacting to money. Prepare the kids for the disillusions they will have when their illusions actually develop into expectations. And see that well set-up individuals rise above, and make more plans and find what will make them happy.
Try reading a wide range of books, discuss. Try some classics and more than spy and murder. I have just read a moving book by Nicholas Monsarrat, beautiful study of men under pressure and how naval men can develop a great fondness for their ship which holds together under fire and bad seas; how can you care about an inanimate thing? Well humans can – discuss. And women why do they dress up, and colour their faces and hair, and then say they do that to please themselves? Surely that’s a lie men would say. Discuss.

I watched with concern after seeing what my daughter was being taught at her all girls school in Wellington. I tried to give her some balance but the message is broadcast loud and clear and history lessons were really social studies where topics were the suffragette movement, US civil rights in the 60s, NZ women’s movements and of course the TOW – it will be even more skewed now that the new Maori centric ‘history’ curriculum is in place.
Government controls the education syllabus, they should be promoting balance not division.

The Education Department prioritising gender issues over and above education fundamentals may be the questionable outcome of capture by the PC woke brigade at best, or at worst, it’s a continuation of the deliberate dumbing down of New Zealand society.
Rewriting history to the detriment of one ethnicity is divisive, pernicious, and damaging, and it can be seen here as akin to Mao’s cultural revolution which destroyed so much historical and social good in the Middle Kingdom. The Real Estate Institute’s retraining camps in Tauranga, is a neat example of a scenario which has been acted out in government departments for a while now, and is being extended into the universities to such an extent that academic freedom and freedom of thought may be vanishing instead of being nourished.
My Hons research essay from decades ago, wouldn’t make if past the gate keepers of today, and making it Treaty compliant would be impossible, as the ToW bears no relevance whatsoever to the subject matter. You’re not the only parent concerned about what’s happening in the school system, and it’s one of the reasons why parents are turning to home schooling. Not all parents have that option, and not all parents are particularly cognisant about what’s happening. As usual, it’s the children whose young lives are blighted.
