Racing Industry raid smells like failed Urewera raids
This massive raid against the Racing industry smells bad and you always know when a case smells bad with the cops in NZ because they don’t have their story straight when it comes to arrest time. You see it whenever they shoot or chase someone to death, you saw it with the Red Devils case, you saw it with the failed Urewera Terror case.
My guess is Police stumbled upon meth use by Jockeys, flexed their mass surveillance powers and amassed texts & emails Police will claim equate to conspiracy and were forced to try and make a case of this because it was costing an arm and a leg.
This whole thing reeks of an expensive fishing expedition.
I barely trust the NZ Police to respond to an event in real time without making the situation worse, I have zero faith in our knuckle dragging alpha male cops having the basic emotional IQ to surveil people in real time and make nuanced decisions about the human condition on that surveillance.
Clearly, this is a job for special forces envy.

I’ve heard that kind of thinking enough that I get it, but I just don’t agree with it. The chaos and corruption can just as easily lead to authoritarianism (Singapore’s hyper strict law abiding authoritarianism is rare, usually it enable corruption). And all the chaos really only undermines authority, which they try to “fix” by sending the police after protesters and the like.
Honestly, we just need the opposition down by 2% in the polls and stop tolerating these shenanigans as “the least worst” option… but then again, we have our own Augusto Pinochet in the wings. Yay authoritarianism.
It did seem like incredible overkill and the fixed race were for the benefit of a tiny sum like $1000? But race fixing is not acceptable nor drug use. Pity serious fraud don’t use their powers to bring down white collar and drug laundering corruption and people trafficking in NZ worth millions… The other day I posted some people who had been in NZ for 26 years, never put in a tax return but still got citizenship. Something is wrong here, we already have enough of our own petty criminals, why are we giving residency and citizenship to criminals and tax dodgers and offshore bludgers and turning a blind eye to NZ employers running the scams?

Yes Martyn, it is only a guess, and as usual, when it comes to anything the NZ Police do, you are ready, willing and able to make stupid comments like the above.
