  1. Protesting Iranians do not deserve our support if they are the ones shouting “No to Gaza, no to Lebanon” or the ones demanding that an autocratic monarch installed by force of American and Israeli arms should replace the elected government. They have the support of Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu and their respective military forces. That should be enough for them.
The New Zealand government is “appalled” by the “repression” in Iran because if the Islamic regime survives (which I believe it will, at least in the short term) it will remain a serious obstacle to US and Israeli domination of Palestine, Lebanon, Syria and the region as a whole. New Zealand applauds attempts to overthrow the Islamic republic because New Zealand unequivocally supports Zionism, genocide, and Donald Trump.
It is disingenuous to suggest that the attempted revolution in Iran can be separated from the Gaza genocide and while the Iranian government has failings it remains the most progressive and democratic in the region. Compare Iran with Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Bahrein and Syria in whom New Zealand, the US and Israel see no sin.
Yes, the Iranian government has taken a tough approach to those who openly declare their intention to overthrow it by force, but so would any government, including the New Zealand government which has shown no compunction in using brute force against even genuinely peaceful protesters.
Iran is faced with a choice. Submit to US and Israeli hegemony, or fight. We are faced with a similar choice. We can accept that the Islamic republic as the choice of the majority of Iranians, or we can support its overthrow and the restoration of an autocratic ruler in the interests of Zionism and US imperialism. For better or for worse, there is no middle way open at this point in time.

    1. Yes to your comment, The USA & Israel have engineered the trouble in Iran by sanctions and other covert actions, the current Iranian government was a reaction to decades of the Shah who was installed via a CIA coup so it seems that the more things change the more they stay the same.

    2. A very good piece on NEWS ROOM written by an Iranian woman which spells out the options being put forward by the protesters .None of those options will be any improvement for the ordinary people in the street .They will lead to another dictator who has been living on wealth stolen from the people for 50 years or rile by TRump and israel who will bleed the country dry of every drop of oil and leave it in poverty .

  2. The USA is at the heart of the protests, through (Iranian) currency manipulation which then led to business owners taking to the streets, which was then taken over by a US-led/trained/organized insurrection that took Iran a good amount of time to get on top of. Everything has calmed down now to a level where the opening to attack Iran, the whole point of infiltrating/sabotaging the initial protest, has been lost, for time being.

When you’re being sanctioned to high heaven and manipulated, fought from within, you can be a weak govt, like Syria, and eventually crumble, which then allows the installation of a former ISIS leader to be the next leader who then becomes the puppet servant to US?Israeli interests, or you can be a strong govt, thus condemned to high heaven by both the Right and the Left side of the political divide, let alone condemned by Western media and its political machine. Such is life for the non-Western world.

    1. Yes it is amazing how the USA and others preach freedom yet spend years trying to destroy other countries economies and the lives of the citizens of those countries .Maybe they should look inward and in the case of the USA what id going to happen when china and the arab states start demanding their money ,they have loaned the US ,BE PAID BACK IN FULL WITH INTEREST .

  3. Netanyahu has gone very quiet on his enemy Iran.

Israel has already got a track record in infiltrating Iran and attempting to destabilize the country with American help.

Who benefits with the collapse of Iran ?

  4. To be fair Trump is consistent in sending the military to deal with situations.
Military pirates seize Venezuelan oil for the USA.
Military action is used AGAINST domestic protests in the USA.
Military action is threatened to SUPPORT protests against the Iranian government.
Go to hand it to Trump- he’s not even fucking pretending anymore.
There will NOT be a presidential election in 2026(there may be a Civil War).

  5. Send in the Delta boys, President Trump, and it’s all over. The silence from the hypocritical lefties is a truly nasty exposure of their rank hypocrisy. They love the vile mullahs because they want to destroy Israel, so therefore no sympathy/support for the brave Iranians being slaughtered and executed in the streets in their thousands. The left have now lost every last shred of credibility…not that they ever had any to start with.

    1. More rubbish from Gaby the Zionist. The hypocrisy is firmly in the camp of those who don’t even blink at years of killing thousands upon thousands of Palestinians, but now clutch their pearls over Iranians who are probably Muslim and are conveniently seen as a global problem 99.9% of the time.

    2. gaby is the one with no credibility, I doubt that you could sell ice-cream in a heat wave, in fact I doubt that you could even give it away.

  6. If Iran is the domestic abuse victim trying to hold the family together with faith then America has to be the child abusing husband thieving from business and customers by day while serial killing at night. Iran’s domestic affairs have nothing to do with America, this ridiculous caricature of world police (hashtag white might is shite). If we applied their rule of the jungle then we should be kidnapping members of the NZ govt and trying them in the Hague for complicity in genocide.

  7. ‘Rank hypocrisy.’
That would be Zionist Jews who claim to be victims of oppression while killing, imprisoning and torturing others.

    1. And isn’t it an interesting coincidence that all their organizations are organizing the protests in favor of the Mossad agents in Iran?

  8. Yes I too am not going to support the ‘bring back the monarch’ protest which was at the Bridge of Remembrance this morning. Monarchy’s everywhere should go. It is nuts that Aotearoa still hangs on to that grasping lot in England.
