  1. its getting to the stage we should be giving prospective MPs Voight Kampff tests before they can enter parliament.

  2. Let’s leave John A Lee, author of “Children of the Poor “, out of this equation. His misdemeanours involved property not people, he was not a bully, he got bullied by his own Labour Party, and he never evolved into a rich property owning John P Key. John A Lee caught and garrotted ducks from the Leith River for family food, that was his hungry adolescent grounding.

  3. Bear in mind that Uffindell appears to be a tall man. I think that’s quite unusual. In my experience bullying has been very much the domain of short men, and tall men have generally not been bullies just as Marist Brothers have not not generally been pedophiles. Taller women are the ones who throw their weight around at their smaller sisters.

      1. Wheel Golly. I think it’s time for another strong coffee. His feminine side ? It certainly looks that way unless he shot up overnight like a very fast growing mushroom. ( His trouser and jacket sleeve lengths do look on the short side.)

May I suggest that you consult with a gender expert Green ? I’m just an ex – Green, who was never jostled off the pavement by a tall man, but have generally found them as close to kindness, gallantry, and charm, as any fair dinkum Kiwi bloke could ever hope to be.

  4. Going Biblical “Let he who is without sin cast the first stone”. Not going to question Uffindellis about what he has done as a 15 year old. I’m more interested in what he is today.

What gets me about Uffindellis is the predictable “born to rule” persona, the sense of entitlement. Like Luxon going on about beneficiaries without him ever had feet in their shoes, it is the typical National “do as we say” tough parent stance that I find repulsive. What I’m looking at appears to be a “hooray Henry” who has had a guilded run at life beginning with a private education. I don’t even care about that except to say that cloistered privilege doesn’t give you a life experience similar to the rest of the electorate. I’d really like to know how he’s filled in that gap.

  5. I thought Martyn supplied a better view on this matter although your thoughts are appreciated as well.
While some will always have doubts about how genuine the apology was there is also reason to question how genuine the forgiveness was also, I feel safe in presuming that the man is not a National party supporter.
Your thought that “However, the corollary to that is that the onus is decidedly on National’s newest MP to demonstrate that he has in fact done so” regarding his actions now is the essential point to consider.

  6. If Uffindell had been a PI or Maori teenager he would have been placed on the conveyor belt system leading to prison., And his life would have been completely different.
Well, maybe not that much different, he did end up joining a gang.

    1. Succinct and to the crux Pat O’Dea, unlike this silly convoluted analysis by Curwen here that totally missed the point of why Ufindell has been sprung as a psycho totally unfit for public office. More tales of abuse to come, for certain. This isn’t about a misdemeanor that happened 20 years ago when he was an innocent kid…you got it all wrong Curwen

  7. Its alright…just heard Nicola Willis say Ufindell’s apology is genuine and he is very…..sincere.

  8. The private school system (in england they call it ‘public school’, or they used to) shows it’s backstage face after many, many years of producing fucked-up, sadistic entitleds.

Your links have been curtailed btw

  9. Message to Mr Luxon: Mr Uffindell apologised when it was expedient for him to do so. It appears not to have been in relation to what was in the best interests of his victim. This displays self-interest, not concern for a person who suffered at his bullying hand. What is the evidence countering this, which convinces you he has changed? Assertions from your position of privileged power, lack credence, particularly in the same week that had you saying the vulnerable poor should be sanctioned/punished.
