Charges for cannabis possession are on the rise – increasing by 50% in two years.
It’s led to criticism from Greens co-leader Chlöe Swarbrick – who said there’s a link between the Government’s tough-on-crime rhetoric and a rise in charges.
But police said the rise is roughly in line with increasing use.

The Police are justifying the jump in arresting people for possession of cannabis because the waste water use is up.
To break it down even simpler for you, the Cops are saying they aren’t being racist pricks and hassling people on the street and busting them for weed, OH NO, they are claiming that the increase is just a statistical reality from the general use going up.

Medicinal cannabis use is legal. You can buy cannabis at the Chemist Warehouse! OF COURSE cannabis use in our waste water will increase, trying to make a statistical maths argument to justify why the cops are wasting time and resource arresting and prosecuting people for cannabis is nonsense!
Cannabis testing in waste water is increasing because medicinal cannabis is legal, so the increase is because the cops are being their usual racist pricks!
