  1. Home growing should have a Medical defence, and the lack of a prescription and the $130 needed to fill it, be all the proof required to use it.

  2. For most if not all conservatives, ideology trumps evidence much of the time. This is just the tip of the iceberg. “Law & Order” policy almost always disregards evidence, but it’s only the worst not the only one.

  3. I fail to understand why media keep saying the government has not read a report on whatever when they pass a new law or repeal one thats already doing the job.The reason they have not read such rport is because they CANT FUCKING READ .They were all educated by national governments in national private schools where they dont have to even think because the teachers spoon feed them with the answer to any exam .Then when they leave said posh school they cant do basic research ,just ask any uni .

  4. While you seek to make recreational drug use legal you also ignore the evidence that the more of the mind-altering products (alcohol, other drugs etc) that people use only increase the problems in their life. I get it that prohibition is not going to work for everyone but letting people decide what & when to consume is not going to work for everyone either. While I think that health reasons should be enough to control people’s use of drugs there are a variety of reasons why that doesn’t work so we need sensible laws that will actually reduce drug harm in NZ. I guess we do agree that the current laws are a mess & my only hope is that any changes do not encourage an increase in unsafe drug use.

    1. The only side effects from marijuana is falling asleep and the munchies. New Zealanders had been smoking for decades and decades before A class really kicked things off in the 90s for a whole another reason than it’s a gateway drug. High performance athletes take marijuana. It’d legal in the U.S. and you’d be hard pressed to link marijuana to crime there to. I’m going to have to insist you produce evidence. Not just produce but at least give a reasonable reply so that I know you even understand the study or whatever that you’ve read.

      1. Exceptionally well said Sam, show us the evidence, not just soundbites.

        1. If Bonnie showed you the prove you would do a Trump and say fake Press . I find the Left have a simplistic out look on the World with sound bites to go with them

          1. Thebfuck are youbtalking about marijuana has been legal in the U.S for years the referendum just stalled the legalisisation of marijuana

          2. The USA is hardly a good reference for anything.
Those I speak to at the Chch Coty Mission always say I wish I had smoked less weed or drunk less alchol and had a better life.
Some can drink or smoke with no effect but many cannot handle it temptation

          3. Christ trev you write some.shit, is that the best you can come up with, refuting my post with yet another right wing shrill soundbite.
You are becoming worse than Bob the deranged first and he’s really fucked up.
The right have gone back to the seventies and are destroying the police force, health and education. The list of those wanting to leave our country is rapidly growing, such is how corrupt this government has become.

        2. All of America. New Zealand. Hell I’ll throw in Amsterdam to. Marijuana hasn’t been the cause or linked to the increase in degeneracy. Deal with it.

      2. While marijuana is not toxic like alcohol I do know of people who are regular users & it certainly limits their reasoning abilities. While I can appreciate that most people have no belief in spiritual values so their aim is to enjoy the life they have now (I did live like that for 10 years) it is also my experience that relying on chemicals for enjoyment makes one unable to understand the real meaning of life.

  5. It’s a damning indictment of NZ that instead of leading the legalization of our third most popular drug, we are trailing decades behind a nation so backward they are seriously considering another Trump presidency.

Our MPs must be utterly fith, letting a reactionary old fool like the White Butterfly (Peter Dunne) put us so far behind.

  6. LETS just take a giant leap and ban all drugs including alcohol ,which is the precurser of most people getting on to other hard drugs according to the drug takers I know .Think of all the savings to the health system and police time no longer wasted dealing with drug fucked people creating shit .Society would be way better off with a massive reduction in domestic violence and poverty for starters .Then kids would be fed and clothed and attending school .

    1. I do not often agree with what you say but what you say makes real sense. I am afraid that no party would get across the line if that was their platform though..

  7. Exceptionally well said Sam, show us the evidence, not just soundbites.

  8. Sounds as if it would be right up the alley for watchers of Robocop, James Bond – what abart the children?; and ordinary citizens?

    1. lol – there are plenty of functioning alcoholics in our board rooms – why don’t you go and ask them about their drug and alcohol use. They’ll tell you to eff off and mind your own business.
