In my view, the recommendations made by Costello’s advisory group – especially around information sharing between government agencies – are necessary and should be adopted in full.

It was 2019 when I first realised the influx of 501s into NZ was creating a never before seen change in the criminal underworld.
It was when the Headhunters had their HQ shot up with an AK-47…

…The Headhunters were one of the alpha gangs in NZ, anyone taking a fucking AK-47 to their HQ was a massive red flashing light that something enormous had changed.
Despite all the pearl clutching by our politicians over the decades proclaiming our gang culture as so evil and dangerous, the reality was that our domestic gangs had NOTHING on the criminal sophistication and uber violence tactics of the 501s who were coming from an Australian Crime culture far more dangerous because of their connections with South American Cartels who use counter-intelligence tactics.
Consider the criminal sophistication of the 501 syndicates…

Police have revealed the details of around 400 gun owners – including names and possibly the types of firearms they had – were stolen from the old Auckland police station.
Sensitive documents were being stored inside the dilapidated and disused former Auckland City police station where staff no longer work.
…to know where to go and seize these shredded records and use them for the intel to steal guns or bribe locals is far in excess of local gangs and simply side stepped Police protractive tactics to keep these records safe.
These criminals knew what they were doing and knew what they were after. The cops only found out they were missing when they came across them in another search! This is another example of the level of sophistication the unpatched 501 syndicates now have over existing Policing practises.
This is going to require an upgrade of police defences and a realisation that the sophistication of these professional organised crime syndicates are way beyond the current capacity of NZ Police.
Look, the main tactic the NZ Police have is bullying confessions out of desperate people, does anyone honestly think for professionally hardened criminals a mean conversation from a lying Detective is going to be enough to crack them?
Really?
Domestically the Headhunters ran the port, the King Cobras ran the airport to bring in meth made via Triad contacts. The bikie gangs moved the meth and sold it.
What the 501 syndicate disrupters did was source purer and cheaper meth via their South American contacts and imported Comancheros for distribution. They also used intense violence and stand over tactics to target the domestic gangs which resulted in many murders and shootings.
This in turn sparked an escalating demand for guns by the domestic gangs.
Most of the murder and mayhem you have been witnessing in the headlines has been driven by market forces driven by the meth trade as the 501 syndicates took over distribution chains in NZ.
The reason they are here?
In America meth is $5 a point.
In NZ it is $100.
That kind of price deferential is an enormous profit margin for NZ.
What has taken meth use to the next level is the sudden emergence of Chinese Shadow banking that facilitates the massive transfer of cash from the 501 syndicates directly to South American Cartels…

NZ Politicians have built their career screaming da gangs da gangs when our domestic gangs were no where near the violence or sophistication of the Australian gangs.
PC Plod can’t break organised crime of this level.
That’s one of the reasons the FBI have opened a new base here, to help NZ agencies track the financial infrastructure of these new criminal arrangements.
Legalising cannabis with a ring fenced addiction service could provide the resources to get people off meth addiction (reducing demand and prices) while hiring more Mandarin speaking police to go after the banking infrastructure to harm organised crime profit margins would attack the supply.
I just don’t think any of this is possible because our Politicians are simply to thick to appreciate what brutal counter-intelligence tactics from South American Cartels.
BTW – 80-90% of Black Power and Mongrel Mob gang members were abused in state care.
You want less gang members? Stop abusing them in State Care.
PS – 500 children this year were abused while in State Care.
