Victims 26–27 May 2025:

79 more killed and 163 wounded

Since dawn, Israeli air strikes, missile launches and gunfire on homes as well as medical and other facilities have resulted in 79 dead and 163 wounded. The total number now killed in Gaza, since 7 October 2023, has risen to at least 54,056 and the total wounded to at least 123,129. The daily average number of men, women and children killed in Gaza is at least 90 and, that of those injured, is more than 206. A UN report states that, as of 14 January 2025, around 70% of those killed in Gaza were women and children.

Challenges

Attacks on health–care continue to take place, with 29 attacks reported so far in May 2025, further disrupting the already fragile health–care system and overburdening hospitals that remain operational, however partially. These included the following key attacks:

Al Awda Hospital in Beit Lahiya, North Gaza, was repeatedly hit between 15 on 23 May, resulting in the injury of staff and extensive damage to the hospital‘s warehouse containing medical supplies. Since 19 May, ongoing hostilities and precarious road access have prevented patients from reaching the hospital, which has remained partially operational under extreme conditions. As of 24 May, 19 patients and 131 staff (including 14 doctors and 40 nurses) were inside the hospital.

The Indonesian Hospital has been rendered out of service by strikes on 19 and 20 May, resulting in the loss of 162 hospital beds.

The European Gaza Hospital was forced to close on 13 May following intense Israeli airstrikes, which resulted in casualties among patients and other civilians, the destruction of oxygen lines andsewerage systems, loss of 329 beds, and the cut-off of vital services, such as neurosurgery, cardiac care and cancer treatment. West Bank

Palestinian Monitoring Group — Since midnight on 07 October 2023, Occupation forces have been imposing a complete closure around the whole of the West Bank, preventing people (even including permit-holders) from entering both Jerusalem City as well as Israel, other than for especially-negotiated exceptions. Permanent military checkpoints impose severe travel restrictions within the Occupied West Bank.

Israeli Army attack: Jenin – Israeli Occupation forces, firing live ammunition, continue to storm the city and the refugee camp.

Israeli Army attacks – home demolitions – home and property seizures: Tulkarem – Israeli forces, firing live ammunition, continuing their storming of the city as well as the Tulkarem and Nur Shams refugee camps, took prisoner two people while destroying 48 homes, issuing demolition notices against 20 apartment buildings and occupying yet more homes and other properties, many for use by the Israeli military. 106 buildings and homes in the Nur Shams and Tulkarem refugee camps await demolition.

Israeli Army attacks – 1 killed – home invasions: Jericho – 00:20, the Israeli Army, firing live ammunition, stormed the city, killing a resident, Muhammad Yahya Asi Jalayta, while raiding and searching three homes.

Home invasion – 1 taken prisoner: Qalqiliya – 09:45–12:40, Israeli Occupation forces raided the town of Azzun, invaded a home and took prisoner a resident.

Home invasions: Salfit – 19:15, Israeli forces raided the city as well as the village of Iskaka, searching two houses.

Home invasion and demolition: Bethlehem – 11:40, the Israeli Army demolished a home in the village of Khalayel al-Loz.

Home invasion: Hebron – 20:20–01:15, Israeli troops raided the town of Sa’ir and searched a house.

Israeli Army invasion and interference at school in refugee camp: Jerusalem – 11:00, Israeli Occupation forces raided the Al-Mustaqbal Private School in the Shuafat refugee camp, searching students and their mobile phones and examining and photographing their books, curricula and paperwork.

Israeli Army population–control: Jerusalem – 14:00, the Israeli Occupation forced the shops to close while celebrating the anniversary of the Occupation of East Jerusalem.

Israeli Army – robbery: Ramallah – 18:10, while setting up a checkpoint between Aroura and the village of Ajul, Israeli soldiers robbed a man, Islam Sufyan Dagher, of cash to the value of over $US500.

Israeli Army – population–control: Tubas – Israeli forces took prisoner a man, Osama Ghaleb Muhammad Abu Mohsen, when he reported, as ordered, for interrogation at Israeli Military Intelligence.

Israeli Army – stun grenades fired: Nablus – 19:45, Israeli troops, at the al-Muraba’a checkpoint near the entrance to the village of Tal, fired stun grenades towards people waiting on both sides of the checkpoint.

Israeli Army – water crime vandalism: Nablus – evening, the Israeli Army destroyed an 800 metre-long water pipeline, in the town of Sebastia.

Israeli Army – agricultural sabotage: Salfit – 11:05, the Israeli military bulldozed crops on agricultural land, north of Bruqin.

Israeli Occupation vandalism: Bethlehem – 09:15, the Israeli Antiquities Authority excavated land, near the village of al-Manshiya.

Israeli Army – pastoral sabotage: Bethlehem – 11:40, Israeli soldiers demolished a 1,000-square-metre livestock shelter, in the village of Khalayel al-Loz, as well as the foundations for a building covering ​​100 square metres.

Occupation settler and Israeli Government mosque violation: Jerusalem – 08:00, accompanied by Israeli police, Occupation settlers led by the Israeli Minister of Security, Itamar Ben-Gvir, and his wife, as well as the Minister of the Negev and Galilee, Yitzhak Wasserlauf, and members of the Knesset, invaded the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound to celebrate the anniversary of Israel’s military Occupation of East Jerusalem.

Occupation settler threat to UN headquarters: Jerusalem – 13:00, Israeli settlers, headed by Knesset member, Julia Malinovsky, invaded the UNRWA Headquarters in the Sheikh Jarrah neighbourhood of Jerusalem, demanding the right to remain in occupation and control.

Occupation settler vandalism: Jerusalem – 13:10, Occupation settlers vandalised motor vehicles opposite the Sheikh Jarrah and Musrara neighbourhoods.

Occupation settler violence: Jerusalem – 15:00, Israeli settlers pepper-sprayed a man in the Old City, causing him facial burns and breathing difficulties.
