If new move on powers aren’t a street intelligence program why not use body cams?

New police “move on powers” are being framed as a tool for safety — but critics say they raise serious questions about surveillance, civil liberties, and the treatment of vulnerable people on the street. If this is really about protection, why isn’t accountability part of the conversation?
If it’s about safety, where’s the accountability?
If new move on powers aren’t a street intelligence program, why not use body cams?
If the new move on powers are about ensuring safe interactions between the hopeless and Police, why not use body cams?
If the new move on powers aren’t about regaining selective powers to interview young people without a lawyer present, why not use body cams?
Who is actually being protected here?
Seeing as many of the homeless have severe mental health issues, won’t Police interaction require extreme force causing possible death?
Shouldn’t demanding body cams be the least we can do to protect the homeless?
Why is it only selective videoing by the Police that will be allowed?
Why should police be able to record young people without a lawyer just because they are on the street?
If this is about safety and isn’t an attempt to gain illegal street intelligence, why aren’t we talking about body cams on cops?

We must all fully realise by now that this CoC is “a law unto itself”! Nothing will change that except for them to be voted out. They twist and manipulate everything they can and give Kiwis the middle finger. Their arrogance, ignorance and excessive greed are offensive to most of us – we are simply the pawns in their mindless power game. Bring on the election and FGS may sensible, intelligent folk get it correct this time! Many of us feel for the homelessness and hopelessness- it is cruel and vicious and has been deliberately manufactured. Bring back basic humanity and fairness!
