  1. Ok so that’s all not well and not good. But again, here is the big question: what are you climate warriors doing about it, beyond writing, tiktokking and megaphoning. Give us some concrete evidence of stuff done by Green Party members and climate warriors to lead the way. I want to hear about solar panels on houses, ditching your petrol cars, no more flying around the world (except Chloe in Biz Class), no more hyper consumerism, no more meat eating. Let’s hear it so we can learn and copy you.

So should try and save the planet at the cost of a wealthy economy? What’s the point of going bankrupt over this when China and the other polluters just laugh at us?

        1. If you bothered to educate your self you would know that china is the biggest builder of renewable energy of any country in the world and will soon pass the 50% mark .I note you have not pointed to the USA back track and closing or renewable wind and solar projects while stealing other countries oil on the high seas .For our own good we should be going hard on electrifcation which would have a positive benefit for our economy due to no longer needing to import oil products from Trump controled suppliers and future oil shocks would be a thing of the past .Suddenly the trade balance would be in the black every month .We could even develop new tech and skills that would boost our exports once the dairy industry collapses because there is no longer enough clean water to sustain it .

    1. You know what to do by the sound of it so instead of picking arguments, just get on with quietly doing, or not doing, those things you mention, like we do.
What we do won’t have much influence probably, but we can try and perhaps encourage others.
We don’t have to justify ourselves to you. You either admit we need to make an effort or you don’t.
Unlike a lot of RWers, we don’t threaten people or their children or go around being belligerent about things.
You apparently perceive the problems, don’t wait for us to help you think it through.

    2. @Jonzie. Wrong – the big question is: Why are we persisting with a failed economic system that promotes climate altering forms of production and consumption, whilst disincentivising & making unaffordable the sensible sustainable alternatives?

As usual, right wing nut jobs try to shift blame onto those who recognise the situation for what it is.

Yes, hmmm, how could we forget…the lefties are righteous angels. It’s all our fault. You can sleep easy knowing you are squeaky clean.

        1. As usual, when challenged the “Jonzies” of this world come up empty handed.
No ability to argue. Just spite.

  2. Many homes will become uneconomic to insure leaving many with the loss of their asset and no protection against the worsening weather.

Beyond the environmental impacts the human implications are huge.

    1. Happening down here in Kawatiri right now – As Bathurst gear up for their expansion and they prepare for another go at Te Kuha. The irony is most definitely lost.

The resilient Westport money has so far gone to repair the wharf owned by the mineral sands people who don’t appear to have paid anything for it, despite being given $3m to start ruining the coastline for fuck all of any worth (called a loan but until I see the schedule of payments and at what interest rate, it’s a freebie), and protecting a creek by the rail line and scab truck yard.
If there is another 21 type flood, or worse, the only one sleeping safe and sound are the Australian leeches who own this town and the collaborators and scabs taking the Judas coin.

  3. Worrying stats – so do read them! However even when the worst disasters hit US, the ‘climate deniers’ will still claim it is just routine weather. They don’t actually have that much time to wait! We can’t expect to treat our world with such disdain without expecting a backlash – well it’s coming. If you are so dim-witted as to believe your wealth, position or place of abode are going to keep you safe, you are more than stupid. Our CoC is so thick it has even cut back our climate budget and bought helicopters etc. Of course they don’t give a damn about us – it’s all about sucking up to Trump’s USA! Harsh lessons will be learnt.

    1. Not what I said and you know it.
You can’t even defend the prevailing economic doctrine that has made this mess we’re in – instead you lash out childishly.

System change is the antidote. But the vested interests and their mouthpieces will resist to the bitter end.

  5. Lack of action will eventually be self correcting when the human population plummets due to events caused by our stupidity. Unfortunately those responsible will be the last to be effected due to the insulating power of their wealth and influence. It would be naive to think they haven’t already worked this out.

    1. No the rich pricks will still die because they sold off the water for a quick buck and what water is left is toxic and all the cows have died and plants die because the water kills them when they are irrigated with it .So no wine to drink or caviar to eat .
