GUEST BLOG: The Lockdown With Bryan Bruce Day 26: Good Decision
Good decision yesterday to stay in lockdown level 4 for another 7 days .
Anyone who disagrees should read yesterdays post – the diary of Jason Hill working in ER in New York. This is a terrible and preventable death if we stay home and stay safe.
It was really interesting to see the results of my poll two days ago asking if you planned to change something in your life as a result of this lockdown experience .
Over 1800 people engaged with the poll
81% of you said yes – and in many instances for quite profound reasons.
I know this is a difficult and desparate time for many folk but when after reading some of the things you have written I also have a sense of hope.
Hope that the mean and the self- centred among us are losing their grip on the throat of our nation. Because the lesson we are learning in lockdown is that when the chips are down cooperation ,not selfishness ,pulling togther not pulling apart, is what has ultimately helped us survive and succeed as a species.

Sorry Brian; Jacinda has let the foot off the brake very quickly now, after she responded to criticism from several about her U-turn now to leave level four in just seven days’ time, after several senior scientists to keep on level four for at least two weeks to stamp Covid 19 out fully, but Jacinda said we are doing fine where we are now and will rely on not elimination bur containing it.
So the goal post have changed and she is relying only on a weekly placed manual tracing plan to keep Covid 19 under control within our community from this way in future.
So according to Jacinda, we will always have the prospect that Covid 19 carriers will be around in NZ for many years.

I am not confident on the way Jacinda has released us from “go hard go fast” and therefore have to agree with National on this.
