  1. There has to be a picture of perceived abject failure in health in order to appoint a commissioner. If things were chugging along as expected with a very competent board and some progress (all be it slow ) that’s not political headlines is it. We all know the biggest problem in health is not enough money. I despair that health staff doctors nurses etc are just sitting there and taking it, where is the fight they showed for more money under the Labour government, where are the stop work meetings, where are the whistle blowers. There seems to be a frozen silence from the biggest health force in NZ who could actually help both themselves and their patients with some action to force this awful government to really admit what is actually going on with both front and back line cuts and money saving initiatives at the cost to us all.

    1. You are correct health workers and teachers were out on the streets protesting for months wanting pay increases and better work conditions .I said to my daughter ,who is a nurse ,that they would not be doing the same if Nats get elected .She now believes me now they are like sunned mullet and have no guts to stand up for them selves .

  2. We have certainly butchered our Health System in the past 40-50 years through short term thinking and Neolberalism.

  3. Fricken hell we need to start rebuilding our Health System, we require new hospitals, facilities and more highly trained and skilled Doctors & Nurses IMHO. The population has been growing the past 30-40 years and our facilities and staff have not kept pace with the increased population. It is not Rocket Science.

  4. There is no quick fix…many of our most competent health professionals left for greener pastures years ago! Replacing them or attracting them back will take years! And some investment tha our present government’s financial commitments can’t provide.
