‘That doesn’t exist’: Doge reportedly quietly disbanded ahead of schedule
The “department of government efficiency” (Doge) has apparently been dissolved with eight months still remaining on its contract, ending a drawn-out campaign of invading federal agencies and firing thousands of federal workers.
“That doesn’t exist,” office of personnel management (OPM) director Scott Kupor told Reuters earlier this month when asked about Doge’s status, adding that it was no longer a “centralised entity”.
The statement confirmed longstanding suspicions that Doge, created by an executive order that Donald Trump signed on his first day, was on its way out. The tech billionaire Elon Musk and the former Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy were tapped to lead the effort and were expected to drive “large scale structural reform” through 24 July 2026.
“We are actually trying to be as transparent as possible,” Musk said about the department back in February, ignoring the fact that Doge agents refused to identify themselves in many cases, slashed agency spending often without consulting with the agencies, and did not transparently provide a public accounting of its work. “I don’t know of a case where an organisation has been more transparent than the Doge organisation.”
Suspicions that Doge may have been disbanded began to surface earlier this summer, after Politico reported in June that staffers had “packed up their clothes and bedding” at the department’s headquarters, where they had been sleeping since February, and looked for new homes.
…DOGE claimed to have saved $55 billion, that turned out to be less than $2 billion.
Hundreds of thousands of jobs and contracts cancelled all for what?
The purpose was to satisfy rump base voter ignorance who see Big Government as robbing them, it had nothing to do with actual efficiency, it was performance art that used peoples livelihoods as collateral damage.
Hilariously, some of the cost-cutting has reportedly cost the government more than claimed: workforce disruption, rehiring cycles, lost productivity, paid leave etc. One estimate puts the cost of those at up to US $135 billion in one fiscal year alone!!!

We need DOGE in New Zealand so bad, but you just don’t know it. The amount of “deadwood” in the public sector (i.e. jobs that exist solely because it would look bad to admit they are useless) is reaching a breaking point. It either happens piecemeal (which would be preferable) or it happens all at once due to an existential economic crisis (which is what i expect is how this will go), but it will happen.

Its a case of Mission Accomplished. Elon used DOGE to dismantle/neuter government departments that were investigating Elons business practices/interests. Corruption and the American way of life march on.
We have our own doje in the form of Willis and Seymour .Look how that is going millions dumped in the harbor ,massive unemployment and under employment ,massive increase in poverty and homelesness and 200 per day leaving the country who are future workers and taxpayers .
Frank Trump is the swamp. How you could argue otherwise is not based on reality. He’s a a dogs hind leg.
