With 2018 over and 2019 dawning, as co-chair of the Māori Caucus inside the Labour Party, I wanted to take a moment to congratulate and celebrate our Māori MPs who have had a challenging, but rewarding year.
Right now the New Horizons Space Probe is 6.4 Billion Km from Earth and sending back data to NASA and last October the Japanese landed a small robot on a asteroid hurtling through Space 300 KM away.
Those are amazing achievements.

In many respects, 2018 was a strange year in politics. From weird gender-focused terminology to ongoing subterranean machinations within the National Party as it came to grips with being in Opposition – 2018 was one for the history books.
So many Maori profess a love for Christianity and yet we copped the same shit as our Native American, and African American, and Aboriginal brothers and sisters.
