Enormous event at Luxon post-Cabinet question time today as Waatea’s Press Gallery Journalist Claudette Hauiti slams Luxon with breaking explosive news that the heavy handed Police action in Ōpōtiki saw a 3 year old left alone in the back of a cop car of arrested whanau members who had been led out in handcuffs and strip searched!

A kuia claims she and her daughter-in-law were subjected to strip searches during the Ōpōtiki police raids on homes suspected to be connected to the Mongrel Mob.
And a 3-year-old’s Ōpōtiki home has allegedly been raided four times by police in 10 months, as whānau speak of the long-term effects these armed raids have on tamariki and mokopuna.
“My daughter-in-law and I were subjected to invasive strip searches, an experience that left me feeling violated and humiliated,” one kuia said.
“The decision to search only the two of us in this manner was unexplained and deeply troubling.
“I was told to undress down to my undies, even had to lift my bra. I still cannot fully comprehend why this had to happen and the purpose of only searching her and I in this manner.”

The abuse in care inquiry was only needed because of wide scale covering up by officials in oversight capacities who should have known better, but instead of wanting to get to the bottom of anything, their first response was to see if they could get away with doing nothing, since doing nothing is always so much easier than doing something.
Police, MOH, CYFS, DHBs, HDC, IPCA, pollies and professional associations, all the people with the expertise and knowledge to provide the necessary oversight by taking their responsibilities seriously, used their expertise and knowledge to cover up instead.
