  1. It’s an alleged attempted rape until they guy has been tried. Remember? Innocent until proven guilty?

    1. I guess Tania just made it up, so she could be exposed to scrutiny from the media of the entire country?

    2. Wow. You’re right!
Even if she was raped, apparently she wasn’t if the legal system doesn’t charge the attacker concerned. Way to show us idiots how to see things the right way!
Your argument implies that most rapes didn’t actually happen, because in most cases, nobody is charged. Doesn’t matter how much trauma, physical and mental, is there – if nobody is charged. After all: most women are liars, right? Of course they didn’t happen! Physical evidence means nothing!
Same with murder, right? Nobody charged, nobody murdered. Makes perfect sense.
I wish I could be so detached and think like such a legal scholar – yay for you! Such brave, non-PC truthiness.
Of COURSE a woman who has a bruised vagina and/or anus doesn’t mean she was raped. That’s just science!

    3. Yes, it is an “alleged” rape. But why was an “alleged” rapist allowed to slink off back home, with NZ going out of its way to hold the exit door wide open for him? Seems that the “alleged” rapist was given greater consideration than the “alleged” victim. That, and the attitude of people like Slater, and to a lesser extent, Key, sticks in the craw. Hopefully none of your family will ever be the “alleged” victim of an “alleged” rape.

  2. Excellent article Chloe.

David Farrar’s comments re Cameron Slater are somewhat subservient, giving the impression he doesn’t want to stay “friends” with the WhaleOil blogger, but is obviously reluctant and scared to stand up against him, for fear of retribution. Slater is strong on retribution as we all know and Farrar is aware of the vicious consequences should he challenge him!

However, let’s hope David Farrar has the fortitude to stand up against and condemns the vile rape culture prevailing in NZ. And if it offends his so called “friend” Cameron Slater, then so be it!

Courage is a far more empowering state than cowardice.

    1. yeah exactly and lets face it after ‘Dirty Politics’ Slater’s retribution towards anyway is now always going to be suspect and hardly anyone will believe anything he writes in spite. WELL hopefully. jez

  3. Fantastically written, Chloe.

And you can add my name to yours when you write,

“But I want you to know David, I will have your back if you write in defence of Tania and in opposition of Cameron Slater’s treatment of her. I want you to know I will stand with you and stand up to those who will attack you for raising your voice against the brutalities of our world – our New Zealand rape culture. ”

David Farrar will gain much by doing this thing, the right thing.

    1. cha … yeah probably not what people want to be reading atm cos of the election and dirty politics but there is still other things going on in NZ.

  4. Good post Chloe. It is long overdue that
    Farrar got called out.

It is about time that some one told him to grow up and get real.

He really does live in wanker land and its attendant sense of entitlement.

It is called bullying. No wonder Slater is his mate.

No wonder that both suck up to the “born to rule” nats.

    1. I just cannot get why David thought it was ok to say he will speak out in the future. UM NO DUDE SPEAK OUT NOW. I am so tired of these white male pundits thinking when they behave in cowardly ways they think they just need to kind of say sorry and everyone will fall at their knees. Anyway I tweeted David this blog he has not responded. *eye roll*

  5. Thanks Chloe,
An illuminating post. It raises issues of ethics, courage and what being a human being really is.

  6. Farrar will make his choice and stand beside John Key and his pal slater over and above anything else.

He earns his living from the national party and will always push their agenda.

I suspect Farrar will always be a two faced sleaze.
