GUEST BLOG: Donna Awatere Huata – UN Climate change ‘breakthrough’ really appeasement in Poland again
The recent UN Climate talks in Poland have been hailed as some sort of ‘breakthrough’, it is nothing of the sort. Refusing to wean the planet off fossil fuels, no clear target for 2030 and what amounts to little more than vague promises to record existing emissions are not a ‘breakthrough’ and only a ‘step in the right direction’ if the alternative was to do nothing at all.

Have my coins, we all need change
As well as the usual worthy, weekly calls from the Muscular Dystrophy Foundation, the Deaf Foundation, Foster Kids, Greenpeace, and a suite of non-governmental organisations doing important work ameliorating social, environmental, and physical ills, this week I was also called by UNICEF, asking for weekly donations.

What simply does not work is the system of severe penalties for producing, transporting and selling substances deemed illegal. Even signs in some airports I’ve past through where signs clearly display the death penalty for trafficking; don’t stop the flow.
